Weekly Round-Up

Here’s what Primary 4 have been getting up to this week . . .

We got to find out the Primary 4 winner and runner up in the Scots verse competition. Well done to Braxton who was the winner from our class and to Charlotte who was the runner up. Great work!

We have been finishing our work on division in maths and next week we are moving on to learn about fractions. In writing we have been re-drafting our pieces of work on the computer. We have been using Microsoft Word and have been learning to type and to change the font and size of the text. We have also been  practising social dancing in P.E. and learning about the human skeleton in Science.

Amber was the winner of a Ruby Reward ticket today and chose Riley to sit with her at the Ruby Reward table. Well done Amber!

Have a lovely weekend!

This week in P4

We have had an unexpected short week this week due to the wild, windy weather forecast today.

This week we have been continuing to practise division in maths and have been working hard to learn our Scots poem Soaks. We joined up with Miss McLeans’s class to choose five finalists who performed their poem in front of the judges yesterday. We will need to wait until Monday to find out who the winner is! We also visited the school library to choose a new book and went for a walk to the Voes to feed the ducks and swans.

Well done to Ava who has completed the Five Minute Box with Mrs Goudie this week. Amber, Layla and Braxton have also been working hard over the last few weeks and have completed the Seasons for Growth programme. Great work!

Stay safe and see you all on Monday!

Weekly Round-Up

It has been a busy week in Primary 4!

This week we have been learning to divide 2 digit numbers by a single digit in numeracy. We have been talking about Scots words in literacy and have been learning to write about ourselves using the Scots language. We have also been been creating our own pieces of artwork in the style of the Scottish designer Charles Rennie Mackintosh and learning about the days of the week in French.

Well done to Allan who has been working so hard to learn his times tables and has managed to complete his Multiplication Masters times table passport. Great work!

We went for another lovely walk to the river on Wednesday afternoon. It was a beautiful day for it! The sun was shining and all of the ice that was there last week had gone. As a result the river level was a bit higher. We had lots of fun building sandcastles, looking for different types of stones and working together in teams.

Pupils should keep practising their Scots poem at home and should know this by Wednesday next week. Finalists will be chosen on Wednesday as the judging will take place on Thursday.

Scots Poem

As part of our Scotland topic this term all classes are learning a Scots poem. Paper copies of the poems have been given to all pupils to learn at home and are also shown below.

The Primary 4 poem is Soaks by Douglas Bell and was chosen by the pupils.

Pupils should learn their poem and be ready to present it to the class by next Wednesday 22th January. Pupils will be chosen to perform their poem in front of judges and the winners from each stage will then perform at our Scots Verse Celebration on Wednesday 29th January.

First Week of Term 3

Happy New Year from Primary 4!

We have had a great first week back at school!

We have started our new book study ‘The Last Wolf’ by Michael Morpurgo and have chosen the Scots poem we would like to learn this term. We have picked the poem ‘Soacks’ by Douglas Bell which will be given out for homework on Monday.

In maths we have been learning to multiply 2, 3 and even 4 digit numbers by a single digit.

We have also been talking about the new year – we have been discussing and writing about our resolutions, goals and things we are looking forward to.

It has been a cold and frosty start to the term. We managed to go for a class walk to the river on Wednesday afternoon and had lots of fun throwing stones into the water and the ice that had formed at the edge. The patterns in the ice were amazing!

Ava was the winner of a Ruby Reward ticket today and chose Miley to sit with her at the Ruby Reward table. Well done Ava!
