A huge well done to all P4 pupils for the hard work and effort they put into their class talks this week. Every pupil came into class        prepared to present their talk on their allocated day and did an amazing job.

Great work everyone, you should be very proud of yourselves!

We have been practising the letter formation of lower and upper case letters in class. Pupils have been given a handwriting task for homework this week to practise this at home too. Homework is due to be handed in next Monday 2nd December.

This week we have been learning the 8 times table in maths, we have been working on spelling the months of the year in literacy and learning to write numbers to 100 in French. We have also been learning about medicines in Health and Wellbeing, dancing in P.E. and playing charades in drama too.

We went for a class walk to look at the different buildings in Catrine as part of ‘Our Local Area’ topic.

This week is Road Safety Week and we have been talking and writing about crossing the road safely. We also got to dress up in bright clothes for our ‘Be Bright, Be Seen’ day today.

Well done to Logan B. who was chosen as the class winner of the ‘Clean Green Rocket Design’ competition.

Maya was the winner of a Ruby Reward ticket today and chose Miley to sit with her at the Ruby Reward table. Well done Maya!

Pupils have been given a Reading Homework Grid to complete for our homework focus this week (see below). Please try to complete as many of the challenges as you can. Pupils will be given their ReadingWise login to take home tomorrow and will get to choose a book from the school library. They will be able to take their chosen book home to read for the next 3 weeks.

We started off our week with Remembrance Day on Monday. We observed a 2 minute silence in class, went for a walk to visit the war memorial with P5 and created our own oil pastel poppy pictures.

It was lovely to see so many families join us for our literacy open morning on Tuesday. We enjoyed sharing our learning with you all.

This week is ‘Anti-Bullying’ week and we have been talking about kindness and respect. We created our own recipe for kindness in literacy and got to watch a super theatre production called ‘Hope’ which explored the issue of bullying.

Today was a dress down day and lots of us were wearing Pudsey outfits for Children in Need.

This morning we took part in a lantern making workshop for ‘Make Catrine Sparkle’. The finished lanterns look amazing!

P4 Class Talk Homework Project

Title: Where I live

We are learning about ‘Our Local Area’ as part of our Social Studies topic this term.

Pupils have been given a project to prepare and give a short talk about where they live. Some ideas they could include in their talk are: where they live, what kind of house or flat they live in, who they live with, what they like about where they live and what they would like to improve about their local area.

Pupils can decide how they would like to present their talk i.e. poster, PowerPoint presentation, photographs, bringing in items from home etc.

Children should practise their talk at home in order to be able to talk fluently to the class, they might want to use notes on paper to help them remember their talk.

Talks should be ready to be heard for Monday 25^th November. Further details will be posted on the class blog as to which day pupils will be presenting their talk.

This week in P4 we have been continuing to work on our Multiplication Masters in maths and learning strategies to help us spell common and tricky words in literacy.

We went for a lovely walk to the river on Monday afternoon where we had lots of fun throwing and skimming stones in the water.

We have been learning about why we celebrate Bonfire Night. We created bonfire collage pictures and have been writing firework safety instructions.

We had our first Discovery Den activities this week. Mrs McKenna’s group were learning how to draw a folding rocket firework.

We have had lots of fun celebrating Halloween this week.

On Monday afternoon we went for a class walk and got to see our decorated pumpkins in the window of the pharmacy. They look fantastic!

We joined up with Primary 3 for a Halloween party on Thursday afternoon. We danced, played party games, dooked for apples and took part in some Halloween activities. It was great fun!

We have also been working hard on multiplication in maths, writing a magic spell in literacy and continuing to practise numbers in French.
