This week in P4

This week in Primary 4 we have been learning to add and subtract multiples of 10 in maths. In literacy we have been working on descriptive writing and improving our handwriting.

We have learned about food chains in science, instrument families in music and the alphabet in French. We had our first Kahoot quiz in class this afternoon and the ‘Bullsharks’ were the winners. Great work!

Remember to keep practising times tables at home as part of our homework focus.

Have a lovely weekend!

Weekly Round-Up

The weather has been amazing this week and Primary 4 have been enjoying the sunshine. On Monday afternoon we went to the park for our first class walk, it was a beautiful day for it!

We have also been working very hard in class. We have been practising our times tables in maths and learning to use different strategies to spell tricky words in literacy. We have learned about vertebrates and invertebrates in science and had our first Home Circles this morning.

Adam was the winner of a Ruby Reward ticket today and chose Ayla to sit with him at the Ruby Reward table. Well done Adam!

Have a lovely holiday weekend!

Homework

Pupils were given times tables homework today which will run for the next four weeks. All pupils were given a jotter, homework grid and a times tables poster (see below).

Pupils should choose a times table to focus on each week that they feel they need to work on, and complete as many tasks as possible from the grid.

By the end of Primary 4 pupils should know the 1 to 10 times tables and be able to recall multiplication facts with speed and accuracy. This knowledge will help to support them in other aspects of maths. Lots of practise committing times tables to memory will be our focus this session.

I can’t wait to see the improvements everyone makes.

Good luck and have fun.

This week in Primary 4

This week in Primary 4 we have been continuing to round numbers to the nearest 10 and have been learning to round numbers to the nearest 100 in maths. In literacy we have been practising spelling, reading strategies and learning all about Roald Dahl.

In P.E. this week we have been keeping fit by completing different circuits like skipping, sit ups, shuttle runs, step ups and tricep dips. It was tiring work!

We have also been learning about different musical instruments, French greetings, some British Sign Language and how to use Google Maps.

It was so nice to welcome families into the classroom for our Numeracy Open Morning on Thursday. Thank you to those of you that managed to make it along, We hope you enjoyed getting the chance to see the learning taking place in Primary 4.

On  Monday we are hoping to go for our first class walk, depending on the weather. Can pupils please come to school wearing a jacket and suitable footwear for this.

Have a great weekend!

Weekly Round-Up

This week in Primary 4 we have been revising Number Talk strategies and learning to round numbers to the nearest 10 in maths.

We have been learning about similes in literacy and wrote some super Rainbow Simile poems during our writing lesson this week.

We also created some beautiful rainbow mindfulness art by using lots of different patterns.

We have started to learn about Planet Earth as part of our Science topic for this term. We talked about what we already knew, what we wanted to learn and we were identifying living and non-lining things. We also had fun playing team games during our P.E. lesson with Mrs McKenna.

Enjoy the sunshine this weekend!
