P5 were learning to code an animation of a Viking raid in Scratch. They worked extremely well as a team, managing to problem solve when their algorithm didn’t match what they wanted their sprite to say or do. Well done P5!

P5 – Numeracy Outdoors
Learning Outdoors Support Team (LOST) visited Dunlop to involve children in a range of numeracy based outdoor learning activities.

P5 – Viking Shields
P5 have been busy prepping for their Viking show which is in November. Here they are designing and creating their shields. See the finished results at the show.
P5 – Direct Speech
P5 had to test their partner’s knowledge of punctuating direct speech by skimming and scanning their novels for examples and then dictating sentences.
P5 – STEM Viking longboat challenge
P5 should be very proud of their teamwork during our longboat STEM challenge. They all worked incredibly hard to stick to the ‘Success Criteria’ and produced some amazing results. Well done P5!
P5 – Place Value Carousel
P5 have been learning about place value up to Hundreds of thousands. They then had to apply this knowledge to a range of activities such as:
- Create a structure using lego and calculate the value based on their own key
- Race to 100 using Dienes (this was tense)
- Sumdog challenges
P5 – Investigate Angles in Natural Environment
P5 had a look for angles in the real environment. They were required to name the angle and estimate the degrees. We then discussed whether this was a realistic estimation.
P5 – Naming Angles
P5 have been learning to name angles (acute, obtuse, right-angle, straight angle and reflex) and the degrees within these angles. They then had to apply this knowledge and find angles in their names.
