This is Rebecca’s horse.

These are  some of the crowns that Primary 5 have created.

Sports Day

All of Primary 5 have been planning their sports day. They have had very good ideas. They will do the Monkey Run, Army Crawl and the Frog Jump for their novelty race.

Imaginative Writing

Primary 5 are focusing on imaginative writing. They have been writing excellent  stories. They wrote descriptive  paragraphs focusing on adjectives and interesting phrases.  Andrew was the star writer for last week. Well done!

Badminton

In PE primary 5 have been learning badminton. They are learning how to hold the racket and serve.

Brogan’s Achievement

Brogan has got her blue belt in taekwondo. It took Brogan one and a half months to get it, so it is pretty hard.

This is Brogan with her belt.

Homework

We started a new homework system with a formal week followed by a personal choice week in our lovely jigsaw format.

I have been thoroughly impressed with how quickly everyone has adapted. Last week we had interesting and original photographs submitted as part of our choices. Nature was the focus and we had many different views and angles of flowers, trees, animals and scenery. This photograph by Layla and Lola was cleverly created.

Bikeability

Primary 5 have started a 5 week course of cycle training where they get to practice their skills in the playground and learn how to travel safely on the road. In the first week everyone also learned how to ensure their bike was safe and roadworthy. Everyone carried out their own safety checks.

Detailed Drawing

We couldn’t miss the opportunity to draw our bikes while they were in school. WOW! what wonderful detail and shape in the line drawings we produced. It was also lovely to spend some time outside relaxing while sketching in the sunshine.

Writing

We have started a block of imaginative writing. Our first tasks were to effectively show what is happening and also clearly describe the setting and characters.

Zoe B. is our first star writer as she included these amazing phrases.

‘Butterflies fluttered their astonishing wings’

‘Penguins dressed in tuxedoes opened the gate, it was a pleasure’

Time

We are focusing on time over the next few weeks and have carried out challenges at home and in school to measure the duration of time. We are also improving our ability to tell the time on analogue and digital clocks. We have played games, completed online challenges and used our own clocks to practice each skill.

Callum T. even sent in a video showing how many times he could bounce a basketball in a minute. Can you guess how many?

What a great start to the new term.

Well done Primary 5!
