Here comes summer!

I can’t quite believe we have reached the end of Term 4!

What a wonderful time we had in primary 3. The time has absolutely flown in since in joined this class of superstars in December. We have grown so much in confidence and are so ready to take on new challenges in Primary 4.

This week we had a fantastic time on our whole school trip, enjoyed watching Catrine’s got Talent and then a brilliant “yes” day in class, today.

Have a wonderful, safe summer!

This week we conducted surveys. We then managed to present our data using bar graphs and pie charts.

This week, we also used ICT to create our very own ‘digital collage’ work. We first chose a theme and then got to work. We really enjoyed this and were so happy with how they turned out!

Sports Day 2025!

What a fantastic morning for our sports day. We have been keeping our fingers crossed for a dry morning for our annual sports day and today we got just that!

We had a brilliant time taking part. We all tried our best and had lots of fun. This year our ‘fun’ race was the ‘egg and spoon’ race.

Congratulations to our very worthy (and very speedy!) winners. We are all very proud of you.

Here are some snaps of the day!

Check out our amazing collage work!

We combined colours, images, words and textures to create these wonderful collages that represent us and all of our interests.

We got creative and experimented with various layouts, whilst planning and organising our ideas. We enjoyed layering our artwork and taking the time to get our creations just right.

Our work is proudly on display outside our classroom and we are looking forward to bringing them home at the end of term.

We will continue to produce art using a collage technique over the next few weeks and will be sure to keep you updated!

“what was left of Peter’s hair stuck up in ragged tufts all over his head. On one side was a big bald patch.”

Today we visualised this scene from our class novel, Horrid Henry, taking note of and trying to include all of the details from the text. We then decided to make a big version to add to our class display.  Take a look!

This week we began our new topic all about ‘Our Local Area’. We made fantastic use of ICT and enjoyed using google street view to explore areas in our community. We were able to identify different types of housing and could use names like ‘detached’ ‘semi-detached’ ‘terraced’ and ‘flat’.

On Thursday we headed out into the community to complete a checklist and were delighted that the sun decided to shine for us. Just take a look at our happy wee faces!

This week we worked on the “friendly numbers” strategy for NumberTalks.
Lots of us found this strategy really useful for completing addition strategy and were able to show our thinking clearly. Take a look at some pictures of our work!

Ask us about this strategy!

It has been a busy first week of our final term in Primary 3.

On Wednesday, we worked together as a class to decide which book to choose as our new novel study. We looked into 3 different options.

We looked at the cover, blurb, author and genre to make our decision. It was a pretty close tie, however, we have decided upon our new novel – ‘Horrid Henry and the Bogey Babysitter’ by Francesca Simon.

In maths, we used this week to revise some knowledge of time. We reminded ourselves of some key facts, played games relating to o’clock and half past and even managed to get outside in the nice weather to play a game of ‘What’s the time Mr Wolf’ where we had to use our knowledge of the analogue clock.

We are now ready to progress our learning and look at matching analogue and digital times, including quarter past and quarter to!

**A reminder that next week will be the start of our 4 week homework block. There will be further information posted on the blog by Miss Kay, on Monday. **

This week Primary 3 have been hard at work designing their eggs for our annual Easter egg competition.

We are a very creative bunch and made use of a range of materials to create our eggs. We had eggs ranging from minions and Easter chicks to farmers and Jesus!

It was a tough decision for the judges!

Here is a picture of our very worthy winner Logan and his ‘pig in a farm’  design.

Mother’s Day 2025

P3 got creative this week as we look forward to celebrating our Mother’s Day on Sunday. We had a vote to select a card design and ended up choosing a really cool sliding design.

We loved the sliding design and really liked adding our ‘hidden’ messages.

Here are some other snaps taken this week, including during tennis and numeracy.
