Last week of term

It has been a fun filled week of Christmas activities in Primary 2/3!

We finally got to perform our fantastic nativity ‘This Way to Bethlehem’ on Wednesday morning after weeks of practising. The children put on a great show and were absolutely amazing! You can watch our nativity by following the link on the school blog.

We had great fun at our Christmas parties with lots of dancing and party games.

The Primary 2’s were very lucky to get a special visit from Santa!!!

Today the whole school went on a trip to the cinema in Kilmarnock to see the film ‘Trolls Band Together’. The film was great and we had lots of fun singing along. It was a lovely morning and a great end of term treat!

Weekly Round-Up

It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas in Primary 2/3!

This week we have been working so hard practising for our nativity, we enjoyed wearing our Christmas jumpers on Wednesday for our Christmas dinner and on Thursday it was the Christmas Fayre.

We have also been learning to measure using non-standard units in maths and have been reading our class novel ‘The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark’. We created some super fact files in literacy and have been practising our new sounds ‘ay’ as in play and ‘ea’ as in bread.

Layla was the winner of the Ruby Reward ticket today and chose Ayla to sit with her at the Ruby Reward table. Well done Layla!

It’s hard to  believe that next week is our last week of term.

Have a super weekend!

This week in Primary 2/3

Wow, what a busy week we have had and all the pupils in P2/3 have worked so hard!

We have been consolidating our sounds:

P2 – oa, ai and oy

P3 – wr, wa and a (as in walk)

We put up our Christmas tree and then wrote instructions to tell others how we did it.

In maths we have been using blank number lines and hundred squares to add and subtract numbers within 100.  Some of us even challenged ourselves to go beyond 100!

We have been busy making our cards and crafts for the Christmas Fayre next Thursday and are excited to show you our wonderful creations.

As well as all that we have been practising for our nativity, what superstars we are going to be!

Have a great weekend.

This week in P2/3

Mrs Schendel has had a great week in P2/3 and the boys and girls have worked so hard.

P2 have been learning the ‘oa’ sounds and have been reading and spelling words such as boat, coat and float. Cole came up with a super word – coach!

P3 have been learning the ‘al’ sounds and have been reading and spelling words such as ball, always and also.

In maths we have been learning to find one more and one less than for two digit and three digit numbers.

A huge well done to all the boys and girls who have been so brave and have stood up in front of the whole class to deliver their talks. We were focusing on using a loud, clear voice, making eye contact and using our props to keep to the subject. We have learned lots of new facts about animals.

This week in P2/3

Here’s a snapshot of what we have been up to in Primary 2/3 this week! As well as all the work we have been doing in class we have been exploring Catrine for our second John Muir Day, made lanterns for the ‘Make Catrine Sparkle’ parade and dressed in our brightest outfits for our ‘Be Bright, Be Seen’ day!

Well done to Quinn who was awarded a Ruby Reward ticket this week. Quinn chose Rhys to sit with him at the Ruby Table for lunch today.

Layla was chosen as the P2/3 winner of the best outfit for our ‘Be Bright, Be Seen’ day today.

Just a wee reminder that pupils will be presenting their class talks to the rest of the class next week. Please see the previous post to see when your child will be presenting their talk. Pupils should make sure that they come to school with everything they need to present their talk on their specific day.

Have a great weekend!

Weekly Round-Up

It has been another very busy week in Primary 2/3! We have been working so hard practising songs for our nativity, learning number bonds in numeracy and talking about bullying as this week is Anti-Bullying week.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Literacy Open Morning on Wednesday. It was so lovely to see the classroom so busy and to see you all enjoying the Read, Write, Count bags which were given to pupils.

We had a dress down day today for Children in Need today!

Well done to Harper who was awarded a Ruby Reward for being an excellent pupil in the dinner hall this week. Harper chose Cole to join  her at the Ruby Table for lunch today.

Pupils who have a speaking part in the nativity have been given their lines today which they should practise at home.

Have a lovely weekend!

Class Talk – My Favourite Animal

This week P2/3 have been given a class talk homework project, which all pupils take part in twice a year. Please find the details of the homework project below.

P2/3 Class Talk Homework Project

Title: My favourite animal

Pupils have been given a project to prepare and give a short talk about their favourite animal. Some ideas might be where they live, what they eat or what they look like but you can include anything. You can decide how you would like to present the talk i.e. poster, photographs, bringing in items from home etc.

Children should practise their talk at home in order to be able to fluently talk to the class, they might want to use notes on paper to help them remember their talk.

Talks should be ready to be heard for Monday 27th November.

Further details will be posted on the class blog as to which day pupils will be presenting their talk.

I look forward to hearing all of your talks.
