Weekly Round-Up

It has been yet another busy week in Primary 2/3.

This week we have been learning the ‘ow’ sound in literacy and have been learning how to write a set of instructions. This week we made a set of instructions for how to wash your hands.

In numeracy we have been continuing to learn about money. We have been practising counting in 2’s and 5’s and have been counting coins to find the total amount.

On Wednesday we had a great morning working in our different Committee Groups. Mrs McKenna’s Modern Languages committee were learning all about Mardi Gras.

We went for a walk around the village on Wednesday afternoon to look for signs of spring. We saw some snowdrops, crocuses and even some daffodils. We were disappointed to see lots of rubbish and dog poo on our walk.

Numeracy Homework – Investigating Pancakes

This Quick Pancake Recipe Will Become Your New Weekend Favorite

Since it is Shrove Tuesday tomorrow, pupils have been given an ‘Investigating pancakes’ challenge which has been added to their numeracy scrapbook this week.

Pupils can complete this task in any way they wish. You may want to make pancakes at home together, looking at the ingredients needed and measuring them out. How many pancakes can you make with the mixture? How many pancakes would each person in your family get? Pupils could also cut the paper circle given to work out the smallest size they could make for all of their family to have a piece of a pancake. For example, in a family of four each person would get 1/4.

Numeracy scrapbooks should be returned by Monday 27th February.

Have fun!

Round-Up

Here’s a wee look at what we have been getting up to in Primary 2/3 over the last two weeks (with the February weekend in between).

We have been learning the ‘ll’ and ‘ff’ sounds in literacy and wrote some lovely Valentine notes to each other. We have been continuing to learn about money and revise place value in numeracy.

We have been learning ceilidh dancing with Mrs McCaig in P.E. We had a wonderful school ceilidh last Tuesday and it was fantastic to see some of our pupils take part in a great night of dancing.

Our Scots Verse Celebration was held last Wednesday and Quinn was the Primary 2 winner. Well done Quinn!

We have a lovely new home corner in our open area which we have been enjoying playing in this week.

We finished off this week with a wee class party to celebrate achieving 2000 Class Dojo points. Well done Primary 2/3!

Weekly Round-Up

This week we were very lucky to get a brand new Promethean board fitted in our classroom. The boys and girls have already had fun playing some games on it!

We have also been learning the ‘ss’ sound in literacy, reinforcing addition and subtraction strategies in numeracy, learning how to draw a highland cow as part of our Scotland topic and having lots of fun!

Well done to Callum, Braxton, Quinn, Charlotte, Logan R. and Oscar who were chosen as the finalists in our Scots Verse competition. They worked so hard to learn their poems and did a fantastic job of performing in front of an audience. The judging took place today and the winners will go on to perform at our Scots Verse Celebration on Wednesday afternoon.

Primary 2/3 now have a P.E. slot in the gym hall on a Wednesday afternoon which means that we are able to use the hall if the weather is not good enough for us to go a walk. Some pupils have taken gym bags home over the Christmas holiday and have not brought them back into school. Just a reminder that pupils must have indoor gym shoes and shorts to take part in P.E. lessons.

Have a great weekend!
