Literacy

P2 have been learning to read and write using the ‘oy’ phoneme this week.  They have also been outside practising their common words.

Numeracy

Our numeracy open morning on Tuesday was a great success. Thank you to all who attended.  The pupils loved sharing their learning about Place Value with you all.

Weekly Round-up 12/09/25

Literacy

This week P2 have been learning the ‘ai’ phoneme.  They played lots of games to practise reading and writing different ‘ai’ words.

Numeracy

P2 have continued to focus on place value this week.  They have used whole part whole models and lots of concrete materials to help them understand the value of each digit in a number.

Learning Across the Curriculum

In Science P2 have been learning about forces.  They made push and pull puppets to investigate how forces like pushing and pulling can make objects move.

Weekly Roundup – 05/09/25

Its been another busy week in P2!

Literacy

This week we have been revising our ‘wh’ and ‘ph’ phonemes.

In writing we have been creating descriptions using description  bubbles to help us. Pupils chose whether to describe Stitch or Minecraft Steve.

Numeracy

In Numeracy we have been focussing on our numbers to 100 and beyond, ordering numbers backwards and forwards and putting random numbers in order.

We have also been learning about repeating patterns and used ink stampers and other materials to create our own repeating patterns.

Weekly Roundup – 29/08/25

What a great start to Primary 2!  We are all settling into class and establishing our classroom routines.

P2 have been busy creating their class charter.  They learned about their rights and the UNCRC and  linked some of our class rules to these rights.

They also discussed the school value of Excellence and created a poster all about this value.

PE

Our PE days are Tuesday and Thursday.

On Tuesday we will have indoor PE and on Thursdays we will go for a walk round the village (or have indoor PE is the weather doesn’t permit).

For indoor PE sessions,  pupils need to have a pair of shorts and a pair of trainers/gym shoes, that they can keep in school so that they’re always prepared for PE sessions.  Please ensure all items are labelled with your child’s name.

Pupils also need to remove all jewellery before taking part in PE so please ensure earrings are removed, or that your child can remove their own earrings on PE days.  It’s also preferable if long hair is tied back.

Thank you
