Weekly Roundup

Literacy

Well done to all pupils for completing their Big Talks and for sharing what they would like to be when they grow up! I thoroughly enjoyed listening to them all!

Numeracy

This week, the pupils explored positional language and used grid references to find different locations on maps. They have also learned to partition numbers which will help them when adding and subtracting.

Across the curriculum

We rounded off our Owl Babies topic with a visit from owl magic. The pupils loved learning about different types of owls and had the chance to hold them!

Our class have also been hard at work making some beautiful Christmas decorations which will be available to buy for £1 on the nights of our Christmas show.

Big Talk Week

Your child should be getting ready to present their big talk on “When I grow up, I would like to be…”.  Your child should prepare and practise their talk at home and can bring in a picture, drawing or poster to help them.

P2 will present their talks on the week beginning Monday 2nd December.

Some ideas to include in their talk could be:

What job would they like to do when they are older?

Why would they like the job?

What skills or equipment might they need for the job?

We look forward to hearing about what they would like to be.

Weekly Roundup

It’s been an exciting week in P2!

The pupils created some fantastic travel guides for people visiting Catrine and had fun participating in our whole school ‘everybody reading in class’ initiative.

We also started our new joint topic ‘owl babies’ with P1 this week and collected sticks during our walk to construct owl habitats.

The pupils then had an absolute blast at their Halloween disco!

Weekly Roundup

It’s been a busy few weeks for our P2 pupils! They have worked so hard in literacy, numeracy and all other areas of the curriculum.

Make sure to ask your child how to say the numbers 1 to 20 in French! If you want to practise this with your child, you can do so using this video link:

The first numeracy homework task will be issued on Monday and will be expected to be returned by Friday. All packs will come with a times table grid included. P2 pupils will be learning the 1, 2, 5 and 10 times table throughout this school year and the grid can be used at home for some extra practice.

Weekly Roundup

P2 has had a super week this week!

Literacy

Our pupils in P2 have been learning to spell words with the ‘sh’ sound this week. They have also enjoyed taking part in E.R.I.C time which is a whole school initiative to encourage pupils to read and listen to stories.

Numeracy

All pupils have been learning to recognise and count to 100 starting at any number. They have also focused on forming the numbers in our number system correctly.

Across the Curriculum

The pupils have been listening to classical pieces of music called ‘The Carnival of the Animals’. The pupils enjoyed lying down, closing their eyes and listening to ‘The Royal March of the Lions’. After listening to the music, the pupils were able to discuss what feelings they experienced whilst listening to the music and created amazing lion masks!

The pupils also explored different emotions and how they make us feel on the outside and the inside. All pupils now take part in an emotional check in each morning to let the teacher know how they are feeling.
