School Trip

P2 had a fantastic time at their whole-school trip this week.  Here are some pictures of the things they got up to at the Heads of Ayr Farm Park.

It has been a pleasure teaching your wee one this year. I wish them all the best for Primary 3!

Literacy

This week P2 were learning the ‘aw’ phoneme, as in jaw, paw and draw.

They have also been practising their sentence writing, making sure they have capital letters, finger spaces and full stops,

Numeracy

P2 finished off their work on time this week.  They focussed on telling o’clock and half past times on both analogue and digital clocks and converting from analogue to digital and vice versa.

Learning across the Curriculum:

In Social Studies they have been learning about Scottish produce and where in Scotland different things are farmed. They created a meal using Scottish foods and things grown in Scotland.

For art they have been creating their own landscapes making sure objects in the foreground are larger and those in the background are smaller.

Health Week 2025

What an amazing week Primary 2 have had, with so many fantastic activities to take part in.

We started off the week with a talk about oral health and a visit from Kilmarnock Football club.

On Tuesday the P6s organised games for everyone to play demonstrating their leadership skills and we had a visit from the Cotton Trail where we learned about different vegetables and got to try some very tasty soup and wraps.

There was a talk from the RLNI on Wednesday and pupils learned how to keep safe around water. They also got to try some line dancing with Miss Brown.

It was another busy day on Thursday with a fire safety talk followed by den building and a picnic outside.  In the afternoon the pupils took part in Busy Hands Calm minds, where they got to try different activities organised by the staff including rugby, watercolour painting, yoga, dancing, mindful colouring, watching a movie and knitting.

They finished it all off on Friday with laser tag and a silent disco!

A huge thanks to Mrs Ferguson, Miss Kay, Miss McLean and Miss Higgins who organised this wonderful week!

This week P2 were learning the ‘mb’ phoneme, where b is a silent letter, as in lamb, bomb and thumb.

In talking and listening  they expressed their opinion on what their favourite sport is.  They all gave reasons why that sport is their favourite and they used this in their writing on Thursday.

Numeracy

This week P2  started a block of work about time and were learning to tell o’clock and half past times on both analogue and digital clocks.  They made their own clocks to help them.
