Class Update

I cannot believe that we have already reached the October holidays! We are definitely having lots of fun in our class as time just seems to fly.

It has been so lovely to have a wee chat with mums and dads at our parents night and all the boys and girls loved that you were able to see their hard work.

Here is just a small update of some of the things we have been doing this week:

Primary 1s have learned their new sound /g/ this week but we have also continued to revise the letter <d> as both letters have quite tricky letter formations. We have also practised some phonemic awareness by identifying objects that start with /g/. Primary 2s have continued to practise sentence writing and we are working towards being able to write a complete sentence independently, including reviewing the sentence once we are done.

In maths, Primary 1s have continued to practise number recognition and number formation as well as counting up to 10. Primary 2s are practising writing numbers to 100 and finding numbers after, before and between. We have also continued to make bar graphs and have practised making tally marks.

We have not had much time for free play this week but here are some of the activities that we have been doing in class to support our learning. We will also end our last day before the holidays enjoying the play area with our big buddies.

I hope you all have a wonderful holiday! I can’t wait to see you when we return on Tuesday, 21st October!

Our Teachers

This year our class has two teachers who work with us when Mrs Kane gets her planning time.

Mrs Cunningham works with us on a Monday afternoon and we do P.E. with her.

On a Friday, Mrs Rooney does STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths) activities with us for a little while.

The children seem to have enjoyed their time with Mrs Cunningham and Mrs Rooney this week and we are looking forward to many more fun activities with them.
