Welcome to our homework page
Below is a note of the reading books and phoneme’s and common words that we will be focusing on in Class this week.
For phoneme and common words, activities could be finding the words and phonemes in a book or in the environment. Practice, reading and writing the words and using them in a sentence or choose an activity from this grid of activities.
When reading BugClub , if you complete the book and bugs, then you can go to your library and read others or read a book of your own choice at home.
Please note that the Sumdog tasks set are in the Task box and labelled with the week beginning date homework.

In class we have been practicing number bonds recall.
We have also been consolidating our knowledge of halves and quarters, cutting, folding, and sharing into equal pieces.
P1- halves and sharing objects into 2 equal groups.
P2- recognizing halves and quarters and sharing out objects into 2 or 4 equal groups, using the vocabulary halves and quarters.
For homework activity there are 2 links attached in the grid, for consolidating halves and recognizing fractions.
Explore around the house, looking for objects and items that can be halved or quartered.

Good Afternoon, please find listed below the homework for this week. I will also be adding in a grid of activities that can be complete as well. During this week I will also send home a jotter that can be used for writing/creating pictures/number work/ or any other task completion into and these can be sent back in on a Friday morning to me.
Literacy
Phonemes and common words for this week are as follows:

You can practice writing these into your jotter and using them to write a simple sentence.
P2 – ‘e-e’ split phoneme – these, eve, complete, here,

You can practice writing these into your jotter and make sentences using these to.
Keep practicing to read and spell correctly.
Sumdog has spelling homework challenge tasks set up for practice as well.

We are starting to explore money this week, recognising and counting coins / notes to £2. What coins and notes can you find at home ( with parents permission) and can you count them?) Make a note in your jotters of the different coins and notes that you find and add.
Sumdog has also got tasks set to practice addition and subtraction and time task to. Please login and complete these as well.

I hope you have all had a great Easter holiday.
Thank you to all who took the time to support your child with the Toys Homework Challenge. They were all fabulous and they were so excited to talk about their toys and presented these to the class.
A slight change to homework this week as it is a revision week for sounds, words and time.
Please complete tasks anyway you feel, is best for your child this week. This will reinforce the learning in class this week. Books are allocated in Bug Club.
Please can you send in for Friday any written homework that your child completes.
Literacy – Phoneme and Common Words:
This week we will revise the sounds and common words from the last few weeks below: You can practice reading and writing these on a piece of paper this week, or using them in a sentence, to practice sentence writing.
There may look as if there are a lot of words to learn this week, but please just select a few to practice as this is a revision week .
Play spot and spell the word. – When reading a book or words in the environment, can you say the word and then sound it out.

Time: How many different things can you find in the house and around you that tell the time. Can you write a list of them sorting them into analogue and digital devices – talk to your family about what the difference is between digital and analogue clock and practice reading the time.

Toys Topic Task:
This week I will be sending home a Toys topic Challenge. As you will know we have been looking at Toys of the past and present. We have explored the materials that are used to make toys and hows toys move, using forces e.g. push/pull/twisting.
The challenge is to design and make a Toy. You have to draw your design and label the parts and materials to be used. Then once you have made you toy, bring it to school to present it to the class. — A separate sheet will be sent home with all the details on it.
This challenge is to be completed and brought to school on Thursday 31st March.

These can be played in a variety of ways, by asking questions, counting out objects, or writing them out as fact families, cant hey see a pattern. This will help consolidate the learning in class.
It would be great if you could assist them to read time on clocks – analogue and digital to help practice what we are learning in class.
P1 – o’clock and half past the hour
P2, revise o’clock and half past and introduce quarter to and quarter past.
These can be done in practical ways reading clocks, of all kinds in the house and the environment.

As you may already know we will be celebrating World Book Day on Thursday, and we have been set some challenges which will start on Thursday, I will send a copy of these challenges home, and hopefully you will be able to help us complete some of these Challenges.
This week we will be consolidating phonemes learnt over the last couple of weeks.
There is a practice challenge set in Sumdog to complete, and you can also practice by how many words can you make, read and write with these phonemes in?

P2 – Tasks – In class we are exploring the fact families( number bonds) to 13. We are doing this by setting out objects and counting to find the total, and using a number line to jump on. Developing our mental recall of these facts. e.g. 6+7 =? 7+? = 13 3+?=13
Our Non- Number focus this week is Time
We are reading and ordering and writing the Days of the Week and Months of the Year.
What significant events happen in some of the months for example Christmas – December, Valentines Day in February.

Congratulations, to everyone for the fantastic job that you did learning your Scots Poems. Your performances on Friday to the class were great. I am so proud of you all.

This week we are in a consolidation week for our phonemes and tricky words and the challenges have been set on Sumdog.
P1- phoneme focus is reading and spelling words with ‘th’ & ‘sh’ and tricky words.
Within Bug Club you will also notice some activity games allocated for you to practice phoneme read and spelling tasks too.
P2 phoneme focus is reading and spelling words with ‘ow’ (owl)/’ou’found and tricky words.

Scots Poem: Thank you for all the support that you have given your child to assist learning and performing their Scots Poem last week. Remember actions help to tell the story of the poem along with expression in your voice. We will continue this week to learn and practice and on Friday we will perform our poem to each other within class.
