Wk ending 26th Sept

This week we have been continuing to look at correct number formation. We have been learning about 3,4 and 5. We have also been investigating some of our STEM resources, experimenting with gears and creating models.

We continue to practise our cutting skills and were able to use scissors to cut out the numicon pieces and then match them to the correct digit, in the right order!

We used our ‘tickled pink’ and ‘green for growth’ system to do some peer assessment. We were great at complimenting others on their excellent work and giving some feedback on how they can keep getting better, too!

In literacy we have been continuing to work on pencil control, writing our names and rhyming words.

We have also been working really hard on our phonological awareness. We have been listening carefully to different sounds and discussing what sounds the same and what sounds different. Today we played an ‘odd one out’ game and managed to pick out which word started with a different sound than the others. This is a game that we can play at home for some practise, too!

Our ‘Wonder’ this week is all about transport. We learned about different ways we can travel on land, on water and in the air.

This afternoon, we listened to a story called ‘The Dot’. We were inspired to create our own masterpieces, starting from just a tiny dot. We enjoyed listening to relaxing music while we created our artwork. Remember to have a look at our work on parents night!
