Week beginning 6th December

PLEASE REMEMBER OUR PARTY IS ON MONDAY 13th.

It has been a busy week in the Oak room this week. We have been involved in lots of Christmas crafts, making some special things to take home before Christmas🤫. We have explored the games on the promethean board, designing Christmas trees, following 2 step patterns and completing puzzles.
We have also been filmed singing our Christmas songs and this will be combined with all of the other rooms into a special video for parents and families. 🎤🎼

We Went for a walk on Thursday to post our letters to Santa. We hope he has time to reply,! 😉😉🎅🏻🎅🏻

We all wore our Christmas jumpers on Friday and designed our own jumpers using drawing and collage materials.👚

AM group

The morning group have also been celebrating St Andrews day and starting our Christmas preparations.
On Tuesday we made our own tartan pictures using strips of coloured paper and participated in some highland dancing.💃
We have been developing skills using scissors when cutting out toy pictures for our Santa letters, following and completing the pattern on the promethean board and making our special Christmas cards.

St Andrews Day and Christmas fun in the Oak room!

This week we have been celebrating St.Andrews Day, making Tartan pictures and dancing to Scottish music. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 🕺

We were so excited to construct the Christmas tree, selecting our decorations and placing them carefully on the branches! 🌲 🌟

We had fun with the Christmas photo frame, doing our best pose for the camera! 😃 📸

We helped make decorations for our local residents to help spread the joy of Christmas! 🎅🏻
What a busy exciting week! 😀

Forces, kindness, emotions and sounds in the Oak Room!

The Am children have been exploring with guttering and a variety of balls this week. They have been developing their understanding of forces/fast and slow and encouraged to describe their effects.  🎾 🥎

We have also been creating “Kindness Snowflakes” to display on our playroom windows to help spread some winter kindness to our friends and family! ❄️ ❄️

we continue to share our feelings and emotions through a variety of learning experiences. Today we used mirrors to look at our facial expressions and draw them on to  paper, we were encouraged to share our feeling with each other. 😃 😔 😑 😡

we were encouraged to focus and pay attention at group time today, listening to an animal sound track and attempting  to identify the correct animal.  🐕 🐄 🦍 🐓 🐈

What a busy and  fun week we’ve had! 😁

Creating patterns

As part of our planning, we have been creating colour and shape patterns. To make it a little more interesting we thought we would  introduce some sensory using flour. The children were creating colour and shape patterns with the objects and we even drew shapes in the flour.

The children in the AM/PM sessions have both been having lots of fun on the gym apparatus. The children have  been developing their balancing skills walking along the beam independently. Some of the children can demonstrate how to confidently jump off the end landing comfortably on both feet on the mat.

This was also a very good activity for turn taking, the children went in the one direction and would wait until the person jumped off before beginning to ensure their safety within this activity👍🏽

Patterns, Bookbug, feelings and transient art!

This week the AM children have shown an interest in babies. We have been exploring how to care for babies and what they need. Children were able to show some understanding of babies needs by feeding, dressing, bathing and changing nappies. 👶 🍼

This week the PM children have been exploring different ways to make patterns. 🟣🟡🟣🟡🟣🟡

We have also been developing our concentration and listening skills through group time experiences. We all took part in Book Bug and Cosmic yoga sessions.  We listened to a story, sang nursery rhymes and played fun games using Lycra at book bug  and had a chill time through yoga, listening to instructions and moving our bodies to the calm music!   🎶 📖 🕷⭐️🐭  🧘‍♀️ 🧘‍♂️

At welcome time we like to use the feeling emojis to express how we are feeling daily and why. We also used a variety of natural materials to create images of ourselves through transient art experiences. 😃 ☹️ 😡 😴

Balancing and Taking turns.

This week the PM group have been finding ways to use the loose parts for balancing. This has enabled them to assess risks, ask for support if needed and then develop skill and independence in balancing. They have also been learning to take turns on the equipment and to encourage each other when trying new things.
