This week in the oak room the pm children have been exploring letters, using stampers to print and the typewriter to type letters in our names. 📇


We have also been  looking at shapes and ways to make patterns and pictures. 🟥🟢🔶


We used our imagination to mould and create caterpillars using clay 🐛


we are keeping a close eye on our caterpillars who have now made their cocoons and hopefully won’t be long until they turn into beautiful butterflies! 🦋

Oak room 7-11 March 22

This week in the oak room the Am  and Pm children have been exploring with variety of household items to make a picnic and tea party for their friends. ☕️  🥗🍇

We have also been using clay to make and create different models, adding natural materials that we found in our woodland walk! 🌲 🐿🍂

We took part in a book bug session where we learned new songs and games. We also went to the gym to take part in  energetic play! 🎾 🥅🥏🏸

Building, games, helping at snack and Bookbug!

Learning to care for Farm animals busing a range of materials such as sand, cereal, coffee and pasta🐖🐂🐓🐐

Sorting colours into the correct dish with small Kinect toys and using our fine motor skills to control the tweezers🔴🔵🟢🟡🟠

Learning about our first letters to help us recognise our names. The children found this tricky but enjoyed trying to find them📚

Using tools such as sharpeners becoming more independent ensuring we use them safely when drawing our pictures.

 

 

This week the Am and Pm children have been exploring with a variety of materials this week, using their imagination and creative skills to mould, build and create castles, roads and buildings! 🏰 🏗🛣🏭


 

We have also been using our thinking skills to  match through games 💡 🤔

 

We had the opportunity to become the snack helper, preparing food, setting the table and assisting adults 🍎 🍉 🍌 🍊 👩‍🍳

We enjoyed another Bookbug session with our peers, singing songs, listening to stories and taking part in fun games using the “Magic Lycra!” 🎶 🎵 📚 🟥

We have also been exploring with scissors, learning to hold them appropriately and cut around shapes ✂️ 🟦🔶🟢❤️

Exploring outdoors, Celebrating Burns & floating and sinking.


We enjoyed exploring outdoors in the fresh air, the sun even made an appearance! ☀️


We celebrated Burns Day though dance, poems and crafts. We even made the “Wee rid motor!” 🚗


We have been exploring with items that will sink and float.
We decided that we would make our own boats, using a variety of materials to see for ourselves what would happen.
To our surprise they  DID float! 🚤

Forces, kindness, emotions and sounds in the Oak Room!

The Am children have been exploring with guttering and a variety of balls this week. They have been developing their understanding of forces/fast and slow and encouraged to describe their effects.  🎾 🥎

We have also been creating “Kindness Snowflakes” to display on our playroom windows to help spread some winter kindness to our friends and family! ❄️ ❄️

we continue to share our feelings and emotions through a variety of learning experiences. Today we used mirrors to look at our facial expressions and draw them on to  paper, we were encouraged to share our feeling with each other. 😃 😔 😑 😡

we were encouraged to focus and pay attention at group time today, listening to an animal sound track and attempting  to identify the correct animal.  🐕 🐄 🦍 🐓 🐈

What a busy and  fun week we’ve had! 😁

Patterns, Bookbug, feelings and transient art!

This week the AM children have shown an interest in babies. We have been exploring how to care for babies and what they need. Children were able to show some understanding of babies needs by feeding, dressing, bathing and changing nappies. 👶 🍼

 

 
This week the PM children have been exploring different ways to make patterns. 🟣🟡🟣🟡🟣🟡

We have also been developing our concentration and listening skills through group time experiences. We all took part in Book Bug and Cosmic yoga sessions.  We listened to a story, sang nursery rhymes and played fun games using Lycra at book bug  and had a chill time through yoga, listening to instructions and moving our bodies to the calm music!   🎶 📖 🕷⭐️🐭  🧘‍♀️ 🧘‍♂️

At welcome time we like to use the feeling emojis to express how we are feeling daily and why. We also used a variety of natural materials to create images of ourselves through transient art experiences. 😃 ☹️ 😡 😴

Autumn fun!

 

 

 

The PM children have been so busy this week both indoors and out! We are getting ready for Halloween and took part in the experience of carving pumpkins! 🎃 We also make Halloween crispy cakes, discovering how chocolate melts when it is put into the microwave! 🍫 We enjoyed snack outdoors on a beautiful sunny day, we explored with sand and water and we even got the chance to see a beautiful rainbow 🌈  What a fun week! 👍
