Primary 1R have been working on instructional writing. Last week they used their knowledge of Chinese New Year and instructional writing. They created instructions for making a dragon mask and then followed instructions to make their own dragon mask.

Anywhere Is A Stage
During Outdoor Learning this week Primary 1 had the opportunity to work on their song for our Burns assembly next week.
Why not ask for a rendition?
Febru-Read

Outdoor Learning 22nd of January
Both Primary 1 classes joined forces this week again for outdoor learning.
Yet again the weather did not stop them from working as a team to come up with creative ways to approach their tasks.
They experimented with different ideas to measure the depth of their digging by using non-standard units of measure (hands, feet and even legs to name a few). They developed their fine motor skills while creating number lines with chalk. Then took on different characters during role-play, it seems we have some budding baristas in the classes. Some children used the rain and paintbrushes, they had a lot of fun working on their letter formation and common words. There was also some design problems solved in the construction area with water jugs being built to catch the rain.
Literacy, numeracy, science and expressive arts all in a Primary 1 afternoon!
Mystery Reader Number Two
P1R have been so lucky this week. They have had a visit from two Mystery Readers as part of our Reading Schools journey.
Can you guess who this Mystery Reader is reading One Button Benny?
The class loved that the book had come from Stewarton library, a great use of our local resources! It reminded the class that the library is a fantastic way to borrow books to read and try lots of different genres.

Thank you very much to all of our Mystery Readers!
