We used Cupits (the distance from the tip of our middle fingers to our elbows) and Palms (the width of our palms) to measure various objects in our Outdoor Learning!

Before the holidays, we had a visit from Samar, who lives locally but comes from Egypt! It was so interesting to hear Samar talk about life in modern day Egypt, and what school is like there. Did you know, if it ever rained, children would stay off school because the rain would make the ground muddy and unwalkable? Imagine if that was the case in Scotland!?

Last week we learned about the social hierarchy or ancient Egyptians. We then planned a freeze frame where each group member acted out their role, and the rest of the class had to guess who were the Pharoahs, scribes, priests, farmhands, craftsmen and slaves. Can you guess?

We have been learning about the human brain as part of our Inclusion & Diversity week. We learned about the Nervous System, Neurons & Reflexes. We mimicked neurons travelling through the nervous system using dominoes, and tested our reflexes by trying to catch rulers and by examining the effect of light on our pupils!

P5D have been experimenting with vertical learning, in randomised groups to tackle problem solving! So far we are seeing some rich discussion, fabulous collaboration & overall improved engagement with the problems! Ask your P5 to tell you all about it!

The following pupils will be participating in Bikeability this Thursday. It will last all day so please wear warm clothing and prepare for the weather!

We have been learning about how the Nile has such an important role in farming in Egypt, due to a lack of rain water! We had a go at creating our own water irrigation system, mimicking the transfer of water to surrounding farmland.
