Febru-read!!! Reading Challenges for the month of February!!

To continue to promote a love of Reading for Enjoyment, we would like to invite our learners to take part in the Reading Challenge “NRPS Febru-read!!!” We have a challenge for P4-7 and a challenge for P1-3.  If your child would like to take part in a challenge, they can let their teacher know and they will be given a challenge sheet which will allow them to take part.  We will make time at our Personal Achievement Assemblies to celebrate learners who take part.

First chapter THURSDAY AND FRIDAY!

We were very lucky this week to enjoy TWO first chapters.
Mrs Butler was our MYSTERY reader! We loved hearing the first chapter of Maze Runner by James Dashner.  We had lots of questions after reading.

Eva also shared the first chapter from a book she enjoys.  Five Children on the Western Front.  This book created a lot of discussion around ‘prologues’ and ‘epilogues’ .
Thank you so much for sharing your time and talent!

Book Week Scotland event at NRPS Friday 21st Nov

We are  delighted to announce that we have been working in partnership with Sarah from the Book Nook, Stewarton and we will be bringing two of our favourite children’s authors to our school on Friday 21st Nov 11am for an event for all p5-7 children.
Martin Stewart is a former English teacher who has been a full-time writer for ten years, writing for both adults and children. He runs many sessions for school children which are varied and engaging, helping promote reading for pleasure and the pursuit of creative ambition. He will be talking about two of his children’s book series which feature the popular characters of Bridget Vanderpuff and Sandy Fin.
Lindsay Littleson, also a former schoolteacher and now full-time writer, has had ten children’s books published, all of which are Book Nook favourites. Lindsay also loves doing school events, saying ‘it is a real thrill to encourage a love of reading and to inspire children to write their own stories’. Lindsay will be focusing on two recent books, ‘Ice Cream Boy’ and ‘Euro Spies’, both of which are Book Nook favourites.
You will be able to buy any/all of the books for the event in The Book Nook or from our online shop here https://www.booknookstewarton.co.uk/shop/nrpsWe recognise that increased costs of living can make it difficult for some families to afford books for their children. If you feel these circumstances apply to you, we can provide books funded by our Judith Illsley Memorial Fund.
