Weekly update – w/b: 19.01.26
P.E
Some of our pupils had the chance to lead some P.E lessons this week, this was a fantastic way for the children to develop their leadership skills and put their football teaching abilities to the test. Well done boys 🙂

Numeracy
We have been looking at equivalent fractions using concrete materials and seeing if we notice any patterns when writing them down.

Scots
We looked at the story of The Three Little Pigs and had a go at translating sections into Scots.
We also had the chance to practise A Dug, A Dug with P4W.

Mystery Reader
We were lucky enough to have a visit from a mystery reader on Friday,
Children had to guess who they were and they also prepared some questions for them.

Scots Assembly Song
We are learning the words to Amy MacDonald – Pride.
Here is the link for anyone who wants to practise at home 🙂

Weekly update w.b/ 12.01.26
Numeracy
We have been learning about fractions and comparing sizes of fractions through games and different activities.
Reading Strategies
We have learnt to summarise this week, or as some in the class like to call it “getting to the point!”
Writing
Our writing programme is continuing, we took the chance to look back to when we first started our writing journey to see how much progress we have made and it is fantastic to see the difference. Some jotters were chosen to take and share with other schools and everyone who saw them was very impressed.
Topic
As Scots week is coming up we have been learning about Scotland, the children were especially interested in learning about all the different famous people who are from Scotland.
Family Competition Time – Zoooooooomed in!
Giglets – Online Reading.
In addition to the homework each week, all children are assigned books on Giglets.
All children have had log-ins sent home with them today (so please check bags).
Books will be updated on a weekly basis on a Monday.
Weekly Update w.b/05.01.26
We have had a great first week back and although we have all been tired, we have made it to the end!
We have been practising our Scots poem this week and there is fantastic progress already!
Numeracy
We have been revising the 4 mathematical operations and it is good to see how many children could successfully remember how to do them all.
Writing
We are continuing with our writing programme and our focus is currently on punctuation.
Art
We have been looking at the art technique pointillism and have created our own 4 season trees (You might notice not all of the paint ended up on the paper…)

2026 Resolutions
We were looking at different new years resolutions (in both English and French) and were thinking about what we want to achieve this year. We have them displayed in class so we can remind ourselves of our goals.

Scots Poem
Scots Language week is 19th January, in celebration 3 pupils from each class will be chosen to perform at a special assembly..
Primary 4’s Scots poem this year is A Dug, A Dug by Bill Keys
Please practise at home and we will be doing lots of different work around the poem and Scots language in general in class 🙂
