Viking Longships

After weeks of collecting cardboard and plastic, we finally had enough to make some viking longships.

The children worked together to make their designs come to life and its safe to say the outcomes were brilliant!

Well done everyone!

Christmas Concert – What to wear.

For the Christmas concert on Tuesday 9th December, please wear one of the following options:

  • Something Christmassy
  • Something green or red
  • School Uniform

Please no accessories (including, headbands or wrist wear) as we don’t want to distract from the Makaton / block people who are stood behind us 

Thank you and please let me know if you have any questions.

Science

We took part in a fun science experiment all about the different states of water and learning about melting and condensation.

Different groups had different materials to use to try and melt the ice as quickly as they could, some were more successful than others!

We then did a condensation experiment and we have been able to find condensation on different things such as the door and someone’s glasses.

We then played the ‘solid, liquid and gas’ particle game, where the children had to move around like the particles do in a solid, a liquid and a gas.

Maths

Multiplication and division fun this week, we started with using concrete materials and have been moving on to more written strategies to help us multiply and divide larger numbers. There has been some great progress with this.

Book Week Scotland

The book we have been focussing on this week is Two Bicycles in Beijing.

This book is set in Beijing, China so we have researched different places in China to write a postcard about.

We learned about different Climates, Landmarks, Languages and Cultures in China (there are a lot!)

We also loved learning about the Chinese zodiac animals and we realised we were (nearly) all born in the year of the rooster!

As the book has some Mandarin words in, we have been learning to count to 10 in Mandarin and have been having fun saying Liu Qi….
