As a result of the COVID-19 outbreak Ayrshire East Foodbank has restricted its service and relocated the main warehouse from Darvel to Kilmarnock. As of Monday 23rdMarch. Existing foodbank distribution centres will close and we will move to a delivery model to reduce face to face contact between staff, volunteers and service users. A delivery model will also allow us to coordinate staff and volunteer work hours more effectively. Dates and times for delivery runs are as follows:
Cumnock, New Cumnock, Auchinleck and surrounding area
Monday 2.30pm – 4,30pm
Wednesday 2.30pm – 4.30pm
Friday 2.30pm – 4.30pm
Additional deliveries will be supported as and when required dependant on driver availability. Saturday and Sunday deliveries may be introduced as demand increases.
Service users will be given a delivery date when they contact us and an am or pm slot.
ACCESSING FOODBANK SERVICES
During the current situation we will no longer be using the red voucher system as many of our referral partners have reduced or closed their services and we anticipate a rise in the number of people who self-refer and who would previously not engaged with services. We will continue to accept vouchers held by referral agents but will not issue any new vouchers as of Monday 23rd March. Referral agents should continue to refer people who engage with their services however we will move to a “Direct Contact” system where requests for a foodbank parcel should be made using the following methods
When making a referral please include the following information
Name
Address
Contact No
Total number of people in household
Number of children in household
Age of all members of the household
Referrers name and contact details including organisation name, email and telephone number
CLIENT CONTACT INFORMATION FOR SELF REFERAL
Email: eastayrshirefoodbank@cvoea.co.uk
Telephone: 01563 574000
Facebook Private Message: Ayrshire East Foodbank
This information will be made available through social media and can be shared with service users.
Due to the anticipated high demand coupled with an increase in the number of self-referrals and the potentiallack of information from referrers we will be using a new client registering system as of Monday. As clients register they will be given a registration number and asked to provide proof of name and address and, where requesting food provision for children, proof of parent / carer responsibilities at their first delivery. Questions asked during the registration process will reflect the information in the foodbank vouchers which will allow us to record the demand and level of service provided.
As with many other services this is a new approach to delivery and we will review and amend the model as the situation changes. We will also monitor demand on a weekly basis and increase our opening hours in the areas where demand is highest.
PLEASE NOTE TIMES AND DATES MAY CHANGE DEPENDANT ON DEMAND AND DRIVER AVAILABILTITY
