Good morning P4. I hope you all enjoyed your weekend and the lovely weather we had. This morning your assignments will go live at 10am and I will be on here between 11-12pm and 2-3pm to answer any questions you have regarding work or if you just need a chat. They do not need to be completed until Wednesday giving you a few days to complete. Tuesday and Wednesday’s assignments will go live at 10am tomorrow, just as we did last week.
Please keep in mind what a great job you are all doing and all you can do is try your best. Do what you can when you can and I am here if you need to chat about anything.
What I look forward to each day is to see how well you are getting on and for you to share your news and pictures about what you have been up to. I think it is really important for us all to stay in touch so please remember to say hi when you come online. I think it would be fun if we nominate someone to come up with a daily fun check-in challenge to complete each day so I would like to nominate Thomas this morning. Post on the Playground Channel and I look forward to seeing what you come up with.
*Feel free to complete the daily Joe Wick’s programme or the one Mr Smith put on the Blog.
*Can I please remind you that if you do upload your work on your e-portfolio that you let me know through the post on Teams**Can I please remind you that if you do upload your work on your e-portfolio that you let me know through the post on Teams*
Numeracy 11th May
Complete the column sums on the worksheet provided below. You have a choice of 2 so you can pick your own difficulty level. You do not need to complete every sum. Do as many as you think you need practice with.
I have also added a link for you to look at as a reminder on how to complete these sums.
You can either write on the worksheet below or complete on paper and take a photograph and upload to your assignment. Don’t worry about doing on squared paper- plain paper will be fine. *Remember to show your workings, not just the answer.

Literacy 11th May
Phoneme Spelling Mat
There are two worksheets attached on the link below. Read the instructions below to complete the task.
- On the first sheet write out your spelling words and diacritically mark them.
- On the second sheet choose 4 of your spelling words and write in the Elkonin boxes. Then choose 1 of those words and complete the rest of the sheet for that word.
You can print the sheet out and complete on the sheet or write on a piece of paper and photgraph it and upload to your assignment. Don’t worry that it won’t look like the sheet, just as long as you complete each part on the sheet.
Bug Club (to be completed by Friday 15th May)
Continue with your reading book and comprehension. It is really important that you make sure you read the questions properly and try to answer in as much detail as you can.
Sparrows– Globe Challenge: Buried Treasure Swifts– The Adventures of Sinbad the Sailor: Monkeys and Monsters Swans- Star Wars: I Want to Be a Jedi Seagulls- 101 Ways to Save the Planet Before Bedtime
*Remember you can upload each part as you do it. You can then go back to completed assignments and add more work as you go along*
Challenge Calendar
*This is an optional assignment*
Each week I will upload a weekly challenge calendar to celebrate specific days of the year with suggested fun activities to do to celebrate that day. Don’t feel like you have to take part every single day, just do what you can. If you have a different idea to the one suggested feel free to be as creative as you can. You can share on Teams if you like but you don’t have to. Have fun!
If you complete the challenge today (Monday 11th May) please press ‘hand-in’ so I know you have completed it. It would be nice to see pictures of what you chosen or even made.
Drawing Challenge
Design a perfect birthday cake. Be as creative as you can and think about what you would like yours to look like. You can use a variety of materials- it’s entirely up to you. I look forward to seeing your creations.
Climate Explorers
What are the major climate zones of the world?
Look at the link below and watch the short video clip (04:48). Give a brief summary on what ‘climate means’ and write how many different climate zones there are and how they differ. You can record this information any way you like:
*paragraph
*fact file
*word processed
We will add to this over the coming weeks to make up a little topic folder on ‘Weather and Climate Zones’.
Marina Ventura’s Climate Explorers
Top tip- the first video you will see at the top of the link you have to press to watch, however the exact same clip a little further down starts playing straight away. If you click the first video as soon as you go in they will both start playing together at different times. Either watch the clip further down or pause it so you can watch the one that comes up first. They are both the same so if doesn’t matter which one you watch.
*Only look at the first part this week. Next week we’ll be finding out about how and why climates change.
