Here is a little look into some of our learning over the past week. We have continued to develop our understanding of numbers within 100 and place value.
We designed football kits and stuck our face on our character to create our class football team display.
This week our phonics groups have been learning ‘ch’ and ‘wr’ along with consolidation of ‘ai’. We took part in some fun activities to practice our common words and phonics and I have included some pictures for you to see.
We have been learning about nutrition with Mrs Russell and have been sorting food into: foods I should eat a lot of the time and food I should eat sometimes. This will help us to maintain a healthy diet.

Some exciting things have been happening in Primary 2/3 over the past few weeks. We had a lovely trip to the park and enjoyed some quality team building fun.
We have been learning new football skills in P.E with Mrs Russell and have enjoyed playing as part of a team.
We have been exploring some new phonemes: ck, sh and tch. We worked in groups at different activities to consolidate these new sounds.
Mrs Russell has also been teaching us all about Nutrition and introduced us to the Eatwell plate.
Have a brilliant long weekend everyone,
I hope the sunshine continues for the whole holiday 🙂
Miss Whitelaw

Welcome back to everyone for our school year 2023-2024. So far in Primary 2/3 we have had plenty learning opportunities and made sure to have a lot of fun along the way. We have visited the local woods and collected resources for our Autumn Hedgehogs. We then enjoyed a view of the sunshine from the park and spent a morning having fun with our friends.
In maths we have been learning to make 10 using a ten frame and counters, this helps us when bridging in addition and subtraction calculations. We have practiced counting in 10s to build confidence within numbers to 100 as well as engaging with 100 squares to help us build a picture of the numbers and their position. We have then led onto Place Value and are beginning to talk about tens and units to investigate numbers up to 100.
We have been learning about football in our P.E sessions and practicing all the skills needed to succeed in this sport. Our gym days are: Wednesday (Mrs Russell) and Friday. (Miss Whitelaw)
So far we have been engaging with Stage 2 / Stage 3 common words. We are all developing our knowledge of phonics, so far we have revised: ck, sh, ai and ay. We have been writing about our ‘News’ and plan to investigate Narrative writing over the next few weeks.
Hope you are all looking forward to a well earned break for this September weekend this Friday-Monday!
