P5 have started Term 1 in gymnastics by focusing on balance. We explored a range of balances, putting our bodies into different positions and learning how to hold them with control and stability. The class also worked in pairs to create partner balances, developing their teamwork and communication skills while supporting and encouraging one another. Everyone showed great effort and creativity as they practised their balancing skills.

This week, P5 explored different types of rolls and learned how to perform them safely on the mats. They worked hard to master the forward roll, focusing on control, technique and safety. To finish the lesson, the children worked in small groups to create their own gymnastics routines, combining a range of rolls and balances. They showed excellent teamwork, creativity and confidence as they performed their routines for their classmates.

Today, P5 focused on jumping in gymnastics. We explored different types of jumps and learned how to control our bodies during take-off, while in the air, and when landing safely. We practised bending our knees and landing lightly on our feet to help us stay balanced and in control. The children showed excellent concentration and confidence as they worked on their jumping skills, demonstrating good body control and improving their balance throughout the lesson.
