Class Blog posts

We’ve had a great first week back and have enjoyed hearing all about your holidays! This week we kicked off the term by learning about life in the 1930’s, looking at the similarities and differences between then & now as part of our WW2 topic. We also started our new maths outcome where pupils have been finding missing angles and will soon move into angles within a triangle.
Also, I’d like to thank those of you who have sent in baby & P1 photos for the yearbook, I’ve also received great photos of the kids through the years.

P7 took part in a Stem Challenge with Miss Laing testing chemical reactions and the effects that a build up of gas can have in a small space.

P7 were given a STEM Challenge from Miss Laing to create parachutes while investigating the impact air resistance and gravity has upon them.

Check out their photos and videos below of the class testing out their parachutes in the playground.

Starting STEM week off with a K’Nex Challenge.

P7 were given the challenge of creating a moving swing or crib for the doll. Here’s how they did!

This week we made some Picasso inspired art work, learned about the history of sectarianism and calculated the volume of 3D shapes. Some of us started casting on our wool for the start of our knitting topic!

This Week!

Monday 29th January – Friday 2nd February

January so far…

We’ve been busy learning some Scots Language, we became a Climate Ready Classroom after taking part in a full days Climate initiative with East Ayrshire Council where the children development their knowledge and understanding of The Greenhouse Effect & Biodiversity. However the most exciting news we have to share in P7 is that 20 of our pupils are to be published in a young writers book of mini sagas. Their 100 word stories were fantastic and we are so proud of the fantastic writing they have been doing!

EA Athletics Heats at RBA

Everyone worked so hard and it paid off! We beat Catrine PS by 14 points! Fingers Crossed we’ve done enough to secure a place at the next set of heats.

It’s been a busy few weeks!

This week…

Primary 7 started learning how to use grid method when multiplying 1 digit by 2 & 3 digits. We survived a Zombie Apocalypse on Tuesday by using our problem solving skills. We took part in our fist Rugby session with our new Rugby Coaches and started making our enterprise products ready to sell at the Christmas Fair. We also ended the week with a Just Dance which we all thoroughly enjoyed!

This week…

Primary 7 have been developing their geography skills by reading a map of Scotland and pin pointing certain locations on the map. They have been researching a topic of their choice and writing information reports, adding & subtracting up to 2 decimal points and taking part in a class dance session of the Macarena as well as using shape and line to draw a portrait of John Muir that they then tea stained to give a natural aged effect.

Oh and Angus dressed up as a duck!

Hope you all have a wonderful October Week!
I will see you all again on Tuesday 24th October.
