We have begun work on our models of a World War One trench. Working in pairs or trios, our pupils are building a jigsaw-like model which will eventually join together into one large model. We will have two main trenches, joined by a series of support trenches.

This term, our numeracy work will concentrate on Addition and Subtraction. We are developing our knowledge and confidence in Bridging, a mental maths strategy, and using this alongside the column method.

We continued work on our World War One topic, by building on our learning in trench warfare to create a Sway presentation titled ‘Life in the Trenches’. We will present these to our class in the next few weeks.

 

Our P7’s received their Leavers Hoodies today. A big milestone in their last year at Mauchline Primary!

We began No Pens Wednesday with some Art & Design. Today we used acrylic paint, brushes and sponges to create a new twist on the classic autumn tree. We have some very talented artists in our class!

 

We continued our new numeracy topic by designing and building our own rockets. After building, we estimated and recorded on the class board how far we thought they would fly. We used our measuring skills to then check how accurate our estimates were.

 

This week we began a new numeracy topic focused on Estimating. This links to our previous learning in Rounding. We estimated a variety of different measurements, weights and quantities both inside and outside of the school before comparing our estimates to the actual measurements.

 

We are developing our basketball skills in PE this term. We have been using different passes, practising shooting and dribbling, and learning about maintaining and gaining possession.
