STEM WEEK
During STEM we participated in lots of different STEM Activities and Science experiments. Primary 5 had lots of fun!

Straw Rollercoaster STEM ChallengeÂ
We reflected on our straw rollercoasters and came to the conclusion that the straws were a weak structure so therefore we investigated what other material would work. Primary 5 thought K’Nex would be more stable so we reinvestigated and tried again!
PE – Rugby
Numeracy – Volume
We have been identifying different volumes and capacities during numeracy this week. We are beginning to look at measuring and converting  volumes.
ICT- CodingÂ
During ICT we have been learning how to successful code a game.
Numeracy – Measure
We were using metre sticks to measure objects around the room. We tried to challenge each other with tricky items!
Yay, the gymnastics equipment is up!
World Book Day Quiz
Numeracy – Angles
Primary 5 have been learning how to identify and measure angles. Also we have investigated calculating the missing angles.
Steven Brown PowerPoint
Primary 5 have been working on creating Powerpoints about Steven Brown. P5 have put so much effort and time into these and they are looking amazing! I’m so proud of each and every one of you!
In class, children have presented thier PowerPoints to the rest of the class and gather feedback on their PowerPoint. Powerpoints can be accessed from home so ask your child to show you their Powerpoint!
Climate Change and Sustainability
We are already a climate ready classroom but we are extending our knowledge through the Outright lessons. We are learning about how to protect our planet and about making positive sustainable choices.

Recently in numeracy, we have been learning how to plot and write coordinates. Also we have been using the compass points to describe directions and positions.
Wider Achievements
Internet Safety DayÂ
We learnt about AI (artificial intelligence) and ways to stay safe online during internet safety day.
Climate Ready Classroom
We became a Climate Ready Classroom after taking part in a full days Climate initiative with East Ayrshire Council where the children development their knowledge and understanding of The Greenhouse Effect & Biodiversity.
