Talk Time Homework
This week we will be writing…
to continue an imaginative story, using awesome adjectives and descriptive language to describe different events and settings.
Please talk with your child about the story starter below and also some ideas about what might be happening and why – Here are some things to think about…
* Does he/she know where they’ve landed? *What will happen now to the elf? *What does the place look, sound, feel, smell like? (Think of AWESOME ADJECTIVES) *Where will his/her adventure take them? *What mischief/pranks will the elf get up to?
Remember to think about good descriptive adjectives to describe the places that he/she visits and what he/she gets up to. Try to give the reader clues with your description without actually telling.
Remember that the elf is small and human/household things will appear massive and they might not actually know what items are for or use them like we would!
How will your piece of writing end?
Will the elf be busted or will they live to pull another prank?
Adventures of an Elf on the Shelf
On this particular day, which started much the same as any other, the elf was on the shelf. It was the same bare, hard, wooden shelf that had been the elf’s place to be for nearly a whole year. The elf knew that it was now the busy time of year when all these mini humans needed to be spied on just to make sure that Santa put them on the right list! The clues were all there…
Christmas movies were on that talking box on the wall, Alexa and the mini humans were singing Christmas songs, sparkly lights were everywhere, the big humans were reminding the mini humans to behave because Santa was watching.
Sitting motionless for so long, forgotten at the back of the shelf, getting covered in dust, the elf was itching to get busy. The elf waited until the house was still and quiet and then jumped off the shelf…

Our songs for the Christmas Sing A Long are… * Vive Le Vent * Last Christmas
