Here are some pictures of the P3 Christmas party. We danced some traditional Scottish dances as well as some modern ones, had some party games and a break in the middle for a snack and a refreshing drink. Our winners are shown with their prizes below.
A fun time was had by all and I bet they all slept well last night. I know the teachers did!
We have had fun doing some Christmas activities and craft, including playing in the ‘snow’, making Spiral Bon Homme de Neige, playdough Christmas cookies, decorating our door for Joyeux Noel and making fabric collage Gnomes.
Happy December everyone, the class is starting to transform into a Christmas wonderland & some amazing artwork is in progress 🎄
Can I please ask that “Elf on the Shelf” elves are not brought into class, we wouldn’t want anything to happen to them.
Busy little elves making our Xmas Fayre wooden tree decoration.
We took advantage of finally having a nice day when the leaves and ground were dry ( we’ve been waiting 3 weeks for a dry Monday!) to go out and create some Autumn Art using natural materials. We collected up some leaves from different areas of the playground and some twigs, sticks and stones and made a variety of sculptures from wreaths, birds, trees and bonfires.
ICT
P3 had a try at coding. It was tricky to begin with but they persevered so well and soon began to master online programming.
I think Sienna especially enjoyed this task.
We had a fun time on Thursday dookin’ for apples.
We did some virtual pumpkin carving.
We walked a spooky mile:
We completed a scavenger hunt and added descriptive words to the items we found:
Welcome back after the holiday week. We are embracing spooky season in P3 and have made some flappy bats, have fun playing with them. Lots of skills being practised, including perseverance and helping others, they were trickier than they looked!
Here are some photographs of our STEM activity, making circuits and our lighthouses that we made last week. Click on the link to view the sway and press play.

Our Harvest Assembly
On Friday 4th October P3 led the Harvest Assembly. We had to learn lines, songs and actions, introduce other classes and the minister. It was good fun and we enjoyed performing for the school and our families. We had a collection for the local foodbank and received so many donations, it was wonderful to see such a big collection. Thank you to everyone who donated.
Monday 30th Sept, we used the circuit kits to light a bulb including a switch. We then created a working lighthouse, using our knowledge of how to build a circuit, a crisp tube and a clear plastic cup. We still have some details to add.
Today we were learning about Venn Diagrams, these can be used to collect information in different ways.
Last week we added Mr Grinling’s cottage, rowing boat, lighthouse and zip line to our watercolour backgroups, we looked carefully at the story illustration to make our artwork match. We also turned our Dumfries House torches into lighthouses.
P3 listened well to instructions at ICT in order to practise logging on to our new laptops. They practised their maths skills on Sumdog and added new friends by adding friend codes to their personal accounts.Â
Sumdog is free to use at home and enables class teachers to quickly identify strengths and areas for development. All of our boys and girls engaged well with the games they played in class and seemed keen to use it again.
We wrote about Mr Grinling, using descriptive language.
In Maths were are learning about Information Handling. This week we have been learning about block graphs.

Part of what we wanted to learn about was seagulls, we learned a lot of facts today then made our own flappy gulls.
