In class, we have been learning about our topic of the senses. On Tuesday, we were lucky to have dry weather when we visited the fairy trail for some outdoor learning.
During our visit, we focused on exploring our senses of sight and touch. The children began by working in small groups to explore the fairy trail and observe what they could see and feel around them.
After this, the children were set a challenge to find different textures in nature. They looked for things that were rough, soft, and sharp, using their sense of touch to investigate the natural environment. The children did very well and worked brilliantly together to find lots of great examples.
We then finished the afternoon with an “I Spy with My Senses” game. The children described what they could see or feel, and their classmates had to guess what they were talking about. It was a fun way to practise using descriptive language and think carefully about our senses.
It was a very successful afternoon, and we are looking forward to doing more outdoor learning as part of our senses topic. 🌿
