Gymnastics – Equipment

Today in gymnastics we had the big equipment out, which the children were very excited about. There was lots of enthusiasm in the hall as everyone got the chance to try different activities and explore the equipment.

The children worked extremely well and showed great effort throughout the session. Many of them challenged themselves to try new movements and improve their balance, climbing and coordination.

We also spoke about the importance of safety during gymnastics. The children were reminded to use the equipment carefully and only try movements that they feel comfortable and confident doing.

It was a fantastic session, and it was great to see the children encouraging one another and enjoying being active. We are looking forward to using the equipment again soon! 🤸‍♀️😊

Outdoor Learning – Exploring Our Senses

In class, we have been learning about our topic of the senses. On Tuesday, we were lucky to have dry weather when we visited the fairy trail for some outdoor learning.

During our visit, we focused on exploring our senses of sight and touch. The children began by working in small groups to explore the fairy trail and observe what they could see and feel around them.

After this, the children were set a challenge to find different textures in nature. They looked for things that were rough, soft, and sharp, using their sense of touch to investigate the natural environment. The children did very well and worked brilliantly together to find lots of great examples.

We then finished the afternoon with an “I Spy with My Senses” game. The children described what they could see or feel, and their classmates had to guess what they were talking about. It was a fun way to practise using descriptive language and think carefully about our senses.

It was a very successful afternoon, and we are looking forward to doing more outdoor learning as part of our senses topic. 🌿

French Cafe!

Thank you to everyone who came along to our French CafĂŠ. It was fantastic to see so many people there, and the event was a huge success. The support from families and friends meant a lot to the class and helped make the afternoon really special.

The children have been brilliant in their French learning this term. They have worked incredibly hard learning about France and practising popular cafĂŠ phrases so they could confidently order food and drinks.

At the café, the children had the chance to showcase some of the work they have been doing during the topic. Visitors were able to see the K’Nex challenges we completed, the artwork we created, and the menus and quizzes the children designed using Microsoft. It was great for the pupils to share and explain their learning.

This topic definitely grew arms and legs as the weeks went on, with more and more ideas being added along the way. However, the enthusiasm from the children was fantastic throughout, and they were very proud to share their work.

Thank you again to everyone who came along and supported the class. It made the experience even more memorable for the children. 😊

World Book Day in P3!

We had a fantastic time celebrating World Book Day in Primary 3. Throughout the day, we shared our love of reading and talked about some of the different books we enjoy.

Some pupils gave short book reviews about books they had borrowed from the school library. It was great to hear everyone recommending their favourite stories and explaining why others might enjoy reading them too.

We also had a fun teacher swap. Mrs Norman spent time with Primary 3, while I ventured up to Primary 6. It was exciting to work with different teachers and experience something a little different for the day.

As part of the celebrations, we designed our classroom door based on the popular book series Diary of a Wimpy kid. This is one of my favourite series and a book collection that many of the class enjoy too.

To decorate the door, we wrote our own diary entries just like the characters do in the books. In our entries, we wrote about our favourite day in Primary 3 so far. It was lovely to reflect on all the fun experiences we have shared and turn them into our own mini diary pages.

World Book Day was a brilliant opportunity to celebrate reading, share our favourite books, and think about all the wonderful memories we are making in Primary 3. 📚✨

French Letter!

Last Thursday, the children brought home a letter about our upcoming French cafĂŠ experience. This is an exciting part of our learning, where pupils will have the chance to practise their French in a real-life context by ordering food and drinks in a cafĂŠ setting.

If you haven’t yet returned the letter, we would really appreciate it coming back as soon as possible this week so we can finalise our plans.

Thank you for your support — we’re looking forward to a fantastic French café experience!

P3 Poetry!

I couldn’t be prouder of all the children who performed their poems over the last two days. Every child put in so much effort, and it really showed through their brilliant actions, fluency and timing. The confidence and enthusiasm they demonstrated were wonderful to see. P3 should be incredibly proud of themselves — they truly were amazing.

Nessy/Sumdog Logins

Today, all pupils have received their Nessy and Sumdog login details. Please check your child’s school bag and keep this information somewhere safe.

You may wish to take a photograph of the login card in case it is misplaced. The card includes the website addresses and your child’s individual login details for both platforms.

We run weekly competitions on Nessy (based on the number of nuggets earned) and similar challenges on Sumdog. Some competitions also run across the whole school.

Primary 3 is the best, so let’s show the rest of the school what we can do! We are excited to see P3 climbing the leaderboards each week and appreciate your continued support in encouraging regular practice at home.

Numeracy Race in P3

In numeracy this week, we have been practising the 2 times table through a fun relay activity. The children worked in teams to answer different multiplication questions, showing great focus and teamwork throughout.

Well done to everyone for working so hard — you were all super and did a fantastic job!

Using Nessy in Primary 3

Primary 3 have recently started using Nessy in school. It is a superb literacy resource, and we are very lucky to have access to it. Mr Brownlie will be getting logins organised soon, which will allow children to continue their learning at home as well as in school.
