Week beginning 02.12.24

The children this week have been busy exploring different foods. The children made some gingerbread men with Beth. They used their fine motor skills to roll out the dough and then press the cutter to create the shape. Some children then walked to the school kitchen to watch Beth use the oven. Once they were ready and cooled down the children then decorated them how they wished using some icing pens. The children followed good hygiene practice and enjoyed getting creative.

The children have been practicing wrapping some presents with Lisa. They have been using their fine motor skills to use tools like scissors to complete this. The children were learning to hold them correctly and were learning how to cut in a straight line. This helps develop their hand eye coordination as they focus on what they are cutting.

The children have been doing lots of different Christmas crafts which will continue until we stop for Christmas. The children have been doing sticky pictures using different collage materials, mark making and decorating, all of which help to develop their problem solving skills and encourage them to think creatively.

Thank you to everyone who made it to the Christmas concert. I know you will agree with me when I say the children done amazing and their singing was beautiful. It was even lovely to see you all dance which I know the children loved as well💖 For those that donated a big thank you as well it is much appreciated💖🌲 🎅🏼
Happy Friday everyone, I hope you have a lovely weekend when it comes💖

Week Beginning 25.11.24

We had some special visitors from the MaidSafe Foundation. We watched a presentation explaining what STEM was which is what we have been working on in the nursery. They then showed us different pictures about examples of activities we could do like rockets. We created our own honeycomb design to show how part of a plane is made ✈️ We tested this structure to see how strong it was and how much weight it could stand. We put lots of books on top and it still didn’t break. The only way it crushed was with our hands.

STEM🧪👩‍🔬The Gummy bear experiment…..

We all had a turn at creating our on experiment using boiling water, cold water and salt water. We had to follow instructions to put the gummy bears into these liquids and predict what was going to happen. We also spoke about safety because there was boiling water so Rebecca had to do that water. The next day we evaluated what had happened and spoke about the results. You then created your own evaluations using pictures.

We have started our Christmas crafts in the nursery. The children have been exploring transient art to make their own gingerbread men. We have learned to be creative with our imaginations and we have been learning to share the resources with each other.

This week we have been unlucky with the weather starting with strong wind then ice. However some of the children took advantage and kept warm by running about and problem solving obstacles in their way,

e.g hands cold – sourced gloves.

Meanwhile staff looked at defining the areas more clearer and encouraging children to explore and further develop knowledge in numeracy and literacy.

Happy Friday everyone we will see you back on Monday☺️💕
