Week commencing 08.12.25 ๐ŸŽ…

All children enjoyed various activities linked to Christmas both indoors and outdoors. Indoors the children explored our elf wrapping station where they were challenged to cut, tape and wrap gift boxes of all sizes. This supports fine motor skills and problem solving skills as well as discussing the importance of using tools safety.

In the creative area the children have been exploring patters using a variety of Christmas shapes and creating their own wrapping paper. The children have also been building upon their scissor control too within creative area. This week in the ECC the children have been exploring pattern further, creating their own patterns on Christmas cards which we will deliver out in the community to local businesses. The children have also been creating their own Christmas baubles and tea light decorations.

This week we will continue to enjoy the Christmas celebrations in preparation for the holidays ๐ŸŽ…ย On Wednesday we are super excited to have the opportunity to attend the pantomime โ€˜Snow Whiteโ€™ ๐ŸŽย which will take place ย school during school hours. Please see a message on your childโ€™s journal regarding this.

The children enjoyed exploring music and creating their own music and sounds using various instruments. This supports imaginative skills and creativity. Early exposure to music has been shown to enhance language development, improving vocabulary, comprehension, and reading skills and of course, itโ€™s great fun! ๐ŸŽถย ๐ŸŽผ
The children also explored some transient art outdoors and decorated their own Christmas trees using a variety of resources and materials. Transient art or loose parts play is the creative experience of placing open-ended resources together on a surface. As part of transient art or loose parts play children will explore shape, space, pattern, positioning, colour, texture and overlapping. There are many advantages of transient art as it supports developย curiosity, imagination, and problem-solving skills. Looks greatย ๐ŸŽ„

Week commencing 15.12.25
This week the children are following on from their interest of creating images and marks using chalk and have created their own chalk paint using paint and cornflour. The children will continue to explore and create images using the chalk and will engage in various opportunities to enhance creativity skills and curiosity.

ECC Learning Week Commencing 1.12.25-5.12.25

I n d o o r s –

This week in the ECC the children have been exploring the theme of Christmas, the Christmas story and the meaning behind this. The children had the opportunity to use props to retell the Christmas story, using their imagination throughout. The children have also had the opportunity to work on their mark making skills whilst writing letters to Santa. There was a variety of words on display for the children to copy, building upon letter formation.

In the creative area the children have been creating their own wrapping paper, creating their own patterns on their wrapping paper.

O u t d o o r s –

This week outdoors the children have extended their water experiences from last week, exploring floating and sinking, the size of the objects and their components. The children then participated in data analysis, creating a chart as to what objects floated and what sunk.ย The children have enjoyed exploring a variety of mark making experiences outdoors, drawing around their peers and their bodies.

Huge well done to all the children in participating in the Christmas concert. Everyone was amazing, the staff at the ECC are all so proud of you. The children all received a superstar sticker today for their great performance.
