Staff would like to thank all families for their support over the year. attending our play/stay events, Learning together sessions and filling out our all important questionnaires. It has been a privilege to be part of you and your child’s learning journey.

INDOORS

We continued with the interest of transport this week. Children explored the hot air balloon learning about how it stays up and what material it is made of.  They used ipads,  books and promethean board to look at different types and the engineering of the balloon.

With this academic year coming to an end. We have looked again at our play environment and what resources we need. Please check out  the mauchline page on Facebook for a list of things we are requesting.

OUTDOORS

The interest of transport is big outdoors where children took an interest into where to park their bikes. They took the lead using chalk to mark their bays and used mathematical language in measuring how big and using the bikes to check. They then used their knowledge of number to mark the bays.
Some of the children then wanted parking bays For the small role play area so the tuff tray has been transformed to accommodate this. This has led to directional language and extend mathematical understanding.

Children going to school have continued to meet up with their buddies as part of  transition and our new ECC children starting in August also came for a visit. 🏫

Next week will be our last week for this academic year, details of our ECC end of term party will be published on Learning Journals. With the primary school closing on Friday at 1pm, we will open the ECC door to accommodate this. 😎☀️⛱

Welcome back to Cara (senior lead) who has been on maternity leave and ready to swap nappies for paperwork.

Learning this week has been exploring different types of transport. With only 2 weeks left till the summer break the popular transport that children wanted to explore is the airplane. We have used the promethean board to look at different types of planes. One mode that has also fascinated the children has been the hot air balloon. A 3D creation was made where lots of collaborative working and creativity was shared amongst several children.

In creative area the children were busy making “special” cards as well as exploring patterns that different vehicles make with their tyres.

Outdoors, children were exploring textures through a variety of sensory activities such as shaving foam, homemade chalk paint and slime. As well as building on their physical skills with the bikes and scooters.

We would like to take a moment to thank Teri for all her support during her time at Mauchline ECC 🥰  We have loved having Teri here to help us grow and support our learning. We will miss her very much 😊
