Our last week before the summer holidays has been filled with lots of fun and laughter. Our ECC beach party was a great success, even with the slightly overcast weather. 🤣 🏝️ ☀️

A big goodbye and good luck to all our children starting their new adventure in Primary 1 in August, we will miss you all ❤️  Pop into the ECC on your first day of Primary 1 to show the staff you looking all grown up in your P1 uniform ⭐️

We would like to say a massive thank you and fair well to Jan❤️ As many of you will know, Jan has worked at Mauchline ECC for 27 years, working within EAC for over 40 years. She will be a massive loss to our team but we are super excited to wish her well on her retirement and all the new adventures she will have. I’m sure she won’t be a stranger

It’s also coming to that time when Cara finishes up to start her maternity leave. We wish her and her partner all the best during this exciting time and can’t wait to meet her new arrival👶🏼🍼💕💖

And finally, a massive thank you to all the staff past and present, children and families for another great year. We look forward to going again in August! Have a wonderful summer holiday and be safe☀️

Lots of love from all the staff at Mauchline ECC ❤️

This week in the indoor environment we have continued to explore our topic of internet, space 🚀, focusing on the solar system. We have been using technology, the internet as a research engine to fact find about space and the solar system. As part of a large group, we watched a video about the solar system and different facts about the planets that make up the solar system. The children know that planet earth is where we live 🌎. We discovered that the solar system is made up of 8 planets. These are the different types of planets that make up the solar system: 1.Mercury 2.Venus 3.Earth 4.Mars 5.Jupiter 6.Saturn 7.Uranus 8.Neptune 🪐🌞✨

“Jupiter is the fifth planet from the sun” Jax.

“Jupiter is the largest planet” Akira.

“Saturn is the one with the rings” Daisy.

“The rings are made of ice” Evie.

“Mercury is hot and yellow” Jaxon.

INDOORS

This week we continued to explore space, where we used construction materials to create our own Alien.  A few children have went one step further and designed and named their own Alien. Some children are now able to name most of the planets in the solar system.

In the creative area we finished our 3D planets and displayed them for all to see.

At gym, we were developing strength and technique when controlling the ball. We discussed the importance of working as a team and ensured all players were involved in the game. We started with a warm up of tree tig before exploring the basketballs.

OUTDOORS
We worked together to make the most amazing Gaming room ever. This involved team work, collaboration, imagination and problem solving. With the help of the adult a roof was created and almost all of the children were able to explore and use their imagination once it was complete.

On Wednesday the first group of parents/carers joined Beth at the fire pit to toast marshmallows to symbolise the end of woodland Wednesday for our pre school children. There are another 2 Wednesdays planned, sign up sheets are in the entrance corridor.
