SLC 3

January Overview

Literacy

We will be working on our individual ILP targets for literacy. SLC3 will look at instructional writing as we work on our new book study ‘George’s Marvellous Medicine’, where we will have the opportunity to write and read our own recipes and potions.

Through our work on our Scottish song and poem we will explore Scottish language and dialect.

Numeracy

We will be working on our individual ILP targets for numeracy and maths. Pupils will cover volume and capacity as we measure out liquids for our potions linked to the book study.

SLC3 have been working on multiplication and division which will continue in January along with a block of work on time.

All my other learning

Our science topic in January will be properties, substances and dissolving which will link to our book study.

The children will also pick a Scot’s poem and song to perform in January whilst learning about our Scottish culture and heritage.

In health and wellbeing, the pupils will focus on substance misuse (keeping safe around medicines). During our PE sessions we will focus on Scottish dancing.

There will be lots of opportunities for expressive arts that will be linked to topic work.
