Number of pupils
Kilmarnock Academy is a non-denominational comprehensive secondary school with a current roll of 526 pupils. The roll includes a large number of pupils who attend on placing requests from outwith the school catchment area. The school has pupils from 1st to 6th years, aged from 11 – 18. A school this size can offer every advantage to your child who will be known and supported in all aspects of his/her learning.

The capacity of the school is approximately 1000, on a single site location. The school has recently been externally refurbished and offers warm, comfortable premises on a compact campus.

The pre-five establishments associated with Kilmarnock Academy are
Cairns Early Childhood Centre,
Hillbank Early Childhood Centre
Riccarton Early Childhood Centre.
In addition, we operate an individual mentoring arrangement between S3 pupils and pupils from
Willowbank School.
Enrolment
Primary 7 children P7 visits for quiz in November
Class visits in December – PE visit in February
Parents visit Kilmarnock Academy for an open evening in January.
Children visit Kilmarnock Academy for three days in June before the new session begins.
Pupils in 1st– 6th Years Parents should telephone the school to make an appointment with the Depute Head Teacher in charge of enrolments.
Placing requests
A large number of pupils attend Kilmarnock Academy under the placing request system. The Education Authority does not provide transport for those pupils in receipt of a placing request other than in exceptional circumstances.
