*****Telephone Line Fault*****

Please be advised that we are currently experiencing a fault with our telephone lines, we only have 2 lines working and all calls are being diverted through East Ayrshire Council Headquarters.   Hopefully this problem will be rectified as soon as possible.

GEOGRAPHY TAKING LEARNING OUTDOORS WITH A FIELD STUDY

geography2geography1geography3geography5geography4geography6     FIELD STUDY – S4 Geography pupils spent the week gathering data on land use, traffic and environmental quality around the school and in the town centre.  The data will be processed in a number of ways and analysed to show contrasts between the two sample areas.  This work will enable all pupils to achieve the AVU component of their National Qualifications.

P7 TRANSITION VISIT TO LOANHEAD PRIMARY SCHOOL

Primary 7 pupils at Loanhead Primary School had a visit from the Kilmarnock Academy Technical Department on the 19th of May.  They have been learning about units of measurement and were challenged to build the tallest tower.  Well done to everyone who took part, we look forward to seeing you in August!

No Knives Better Lives Football Tournament

Huge Congratulations to our S1 boys who won the No Knives Better Lives football tournament on Friday 13th May. The boys were excellent in the performance and behaviour and won all five of their games without conceding a goal. Well Done!!!

4th YEAR PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT FINAL CYCLING ASSIGNMENT

 Have a look at our pictures from Wednesdays final cycling assignment for the 4th year personal development class on the link below.

They cycled almost 20 miles, had an eye-opening, outdoor educationally jam packed, life enhancing, confidence impacting, experience!  Along the way we had several flat tyres, navigational situations, they were physically and mentally pushed, explored new areas, surveyed the lands geography, and as experienced science (especially the effect of  gravity pulling down hill as you try and cycle up).

 Overall it was a braw day, it was filled with sunshine, smiles a bit of sweat, and of course life impacting outdoor education.

ACE REWARDS

The reward programme’s purpose is to promote positive behaviour, in particular the values of

Ambition

Community

Endeavour

Pupils gain merits by showing that they have embraced and accepted these values. Those in S1, S2 and S3 who achieved the award in the third block

(a total of 199 pupils) were treated on 31st March to an afternoon at the activity of their choice. Treats on offer included:

 

  • Ice skating of which 58 have selected to attend
  • Swimming of which 9 have selected to attend
  • Football of which 9 have selected to attend
  • Mountain Biking of which have 2 selected to attend
  • A film which is most popular choice selected by 70 pupils
