Literacy

Reading

This term, we will be reading ‘Fantastic Mr Fox’ by Roald Dahl. We will be developing our comprehension skills using the 6 comprehension strategies and we will begin developing our answers to literal and inferential questions.

Pupils will also be encouraged to read for enjoyment, participating in ERIC (Everyone Reading In Class) time.

Writing

This term we will be explore a variety of genres.  We will start of with some personal writing and character descriptions from our class novel.

Spelling

Pupils will continue to explore Active Spelling strategies using Stage 3 of the SAC OCTOPUS programme.

 

Numeracy and Maths

This term we will be exploring:

• Place value – up to 4 digits
• Rounding and estimation
• Addition – up to 4 digits
• Subtraction – up to 4 digits
• Symmetry
• We will also continue to develop our mental arithmetic by taking part in daily ‘Number Talk’ sessions.

Health and Wellbeing

Our focus this term in HWB will be emotional literacy and friendships/ relationships. We will also create a Class Charter while looking at the UNRC.

Physical Education

In PE, we will be developing our skills in running, jumping and throwing during our athletics lessons. We will also work on improving our stamina during fitness sessions.

 

 IDL

This term we will begin with a mini topic on Volcanoes.  This has been chosen by the children. Our mini-topic allows us to integrate Art, Science, Technologies and other curricular areas too!
