Morrisons “It’s Good to Grow”

The school have registered to take part in the Morrisons “It’s Good to Grow” campaign and would appreciate the support (and vouchers) of anyone who shops there.

We would also appreciate a donation of any compost / top soil to top up our raised beds if anyone has any left over.

Thank you

P3/2 Update

Good afternoon! We are hoping to get the weekly blog back up and running to let you know what your child has been doing in class.

In p3/2 we have completed a fun topic on Pirates. The children learned about pirates from the past and how life in the past is different to our life now. They learned about using co-ordinates on a map and created some super maps of their own. We enjoyed singing some pirate songs and creating pirate hats.

We are moving on to a science topic about the senses. We kicked off this week by going on a senses hunt inside and outside then making popcorn and talking about the smell, taste, feel, look and sounds of it.

Could you please send an empty box or 2 in with your child in the next couple of weeks for a project we will be doing in November. It could be a shoe box or cereal box, anything about that size.

Thanks for you support, have a lovely weekend!

P7F Weekly Blog 24.9.21

This week in p7F  we started a new topic which is Earth Materials. We are all enjoying it so far and we are excited  to find out all of our questions. Also in maths we are doing co-ordinates and some of us started  four quadrants instead of one!  We did have some fines which is quite sad. Our over and above is Zoe and Jaylee and our star worker is Roy.

House Captains and Vice Captains

We are delighted to announce this session’s House Captains and Vice Captains.  These pupils were voted for by their peers across all stages of the school.  We are sure that they will be very responsible and be excellent role models.  Well done – we are proud of you!

P7J Moneysense Competition

Primary 7J have been challenged to design a Top Trumps card to promote and celebrate actions that we can take to become more environmentally friendly.

Pupils have been given a consent form to allow for entry to the competition.  Please return the completed forms by Tuesday 28th September.

In preparation for completing their game-card designs, each pupil has been asked to carry out some research at home to find an interesting fact relating to their chosen environmentally friendly action and to plan a drawing to go with it.

The themes for our age group are: shopping, energy and travel/transport.  Through discussion, we made a list of possible actions to feature on our cards, such as:

  • turn radiators down and close doors to keep heat in;
  • open curtains and blinds, switch lights off;
  • turn electrical items off at the plug when not in use;
  • re-use shopping bags;
  • pick items that have recyclable packaging;
  • upcycle unwanted or old furniture;
  • make gifts instead of buying them;
  • donate unwanted items to charity;
  • shop in second-hand shops;
  • drive electric cars;
  • holiday locally: staycation instead of vacation;
  • walk or cycle to school;
  • take the train or bus when going on longer journeys.

Time will be given in class on Tuesday to complete the final entry designs.

Bike / Scoot to School Week

Please support us to encourage pupils to find a healthy and safe journey to school.  There will be different challenges every day – we want to make it as fun as possible.  There will be a few tips on how to get bikes / scooters ready and we would appreciate it if pupils wear a helmet.  There will be extra house points to encourage this – and points make pizza!
