Primary 4 – Week beginning 13.12.2021

WOW! The end of the last full week before Christmas! We are nearly at the holidays! Primary 4 have had a very fun but very busy week as we did lots of Christmas activities and had a few treats along the way!

We worked on a challenging tessellation activity with Miss Steedman where they had to fit the 9 Christmas trees together and did a fantastic job!

On Monday we had a blast at our Christmas party! We all looked fabulous while playing games and dancing.

We sadly could not go to the Panto this year however, we watched a live recording of it on Thursday and even had an ice pole as a treat! We pretended we were in the Palace Theatre and loved watching it!

The whole school were given ornaments made by a pupil’s grandfather and we enjoyed painting our designs on them. Here are the finished products!
As you can see we have had a very busy, Christmassy week and we will be enjoying lots more Christmas treats/activities next week.
Have a jolly weekend,
Miss Baillie & Mrs Ferguson

P1L – Friday 17th Dec 2021

We have had a very fun filled week in Primary 1. The children have steadily become more and more excited this week! We have made fantastic Snowman cards, holly wreaths, Santa puppets and paper chains. The children have become very creative, independent and are so well organised for any task they take part in. Sometimes it’s hard to believe how young they are.

We watched the story ‘Stickman’ by Julia Donaldson. We really enjoyed it and made story maps to retell the story. We investigated different ways we could use a stick and the children came up with some amazing ideas.

We had a very different Thursday this week . We watched the Pantomime Aladdin in our classroom. We had delicious ice poles and sweets and laughed a lot at Wishy Washy. After lunch we had our Christmas party. We played the games corners and musical statues and danced to The Macarena, 5,6,7,8 and Cha Cha slide. We had lots of delicious party food as well. We were all very tired at home time. The boys looked so handsome in their party outfits and the girls looked like Princesses. Well done Mums and Dads for all your effort helping the children to look so amazing.

Next week is a short week but we will keep busy with Christmas Phonics, ‘Christmaths’, stories, art and crafts, fun games and challenges. I am certain the children will become even more excited as we get closer to the holidays. Thank you so much to all of the children for working so hard and for constantly making me smile and giggle.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend,

Hugs from Mrs Cuthbertson xxx

P6 Week beginning 13.12.21

What a Christmas cracker of a week!

Primary 6 have been busy doing a range of activities from festive fractions to Christmassy crafts.

We have been finding out how people in Victorian times celebrated Christmas. Did you know that sending cards, pulling crackers and decorating a tree were all started by the Victorians?

In class ,we have been making cards, crackers, table and window decorations and painting clay ornaments. We hope you like them.

On Tuesday afternoon we had great fun at our Christmas party.  We played games such as Santa’s Statues, Pass the Present and Christmas Corners. We also danced to some old favourites like Cha Cha Slide, Superman and Agadoo.  We were all glad to sit down for a rest and enjoy our party food.

Yesterday, we got the opportunity to watch the Palace Theatre’s pantomime, Aladdin.  It was very to different to the Disney version but we enjoyed it very much!

P7F Week Beginning 13.12.21

We can’t believe this is our last full school week of 2021! Time has flown.

This week has been Christmas fever- we have done Christmas themed spelling words and created Christmas stories for P2/1. We made them into PowerPoint story books and read them over Teams. We hope they enjoyed them!

Thursday was our busiest day! We watched a live stream of the Pantomime and got ice lollies during the first Act. We really enjoyed the experience! In the afternoon, we have our class party and had lots of fun games and activities.

Thank you for all your help and support during Term 2. We hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

P7J Week Beginning 13.12.21

It has been a fun and festive week in P7J this week!

Fantastic problem solving skills were on display when P7J were challenged to complete some Christmas themed sudoku puzzles.  We started with a puzzle that contained 6 pictures on Monday and worked up to a really tricky 9 on Wednesday.

It was also time to check on the crystal experiment that Miss Steedman had set up with us a few weeks ago.  It was really interesting observing what had happened! Take a look at our crystals…

Everyone has been very creative this week too.  We had fun learning how to thread a needle, do a running stitch and sew on a button.  After some practice, we were able to put our new skills to good use by making some tree decorations. Everyone did brilliantly!

A

Today we were treated to a viewing of the Palace Theatre’s pantomime, Aladdin. It was great to be able to watch the show from our classroom.

We followed this with our Christmas party.  We played corners, musical statues and musical arms, and danced to the Macarena, Cha Cha Slide and the YMCA (which we changed to XMAS) to name but a few.  After all that energetic dancing, we enjoyed some yummy pizza. So, it’s been a very festive and fun day today!

Spot the Elf on the shelf, Christmas trees with gifts and Santa with his sleigh!

Enjoy the rest of the week and the weekend when it arrives.
