Hello Primary 1,

As of next week we are changing our PE day from Thursday to Friday. Please ensure you bring PE kit with you on Friday and that earrings are removed.

On Thursday afternoons we will be doing lots of fun activities in the playground with Primary 2 so please wear clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty and ensure you bring a waterproof jacket.

Thank you for your support,

Miss Baillie

Friday 9th September Primary 2

Good morning,

This morning we are waking up to the sad news on the passing of The Queen and we will be looking at her life later through Newsround.

This week has been another very busy week, choosing House Captains and Vice Captains and pupils for our school’s various committees. The children have also been working very hard on Our Classroom Charter and getting familiar again with ‘magic movement’, lovely listening and the recognition board.

In language we have been working very hard to revise the initial sounds and use these sounds to blend together to make words. I have also sent home our first reading book again with a key emphasis on decoding and breaking the words into letter sounds then blending them back together to make the words in the story. The books as you will have realised are brand new and are in a little bag for their protection. Please can you return the books by Tuesday in this little bag, thanks. Please also support your child with the reading of these books and help them spell out words that don’t know.

In maths we have been busy looking at numbers to 20, place value and the even numbers. The children have been investigating which numbers are even using number trains and cubes, Numicon and coat hangers and pegs. They quickly realised that if you can share an amount out equally then it is an even number.

We are continuing to enjoy our topic pirates too.

Have a lovely weekend and thanks for your support.

Mrs Carey
