SCHOOL UNIFORM – FAIRTRADE

Koolskools Fairtrade Uniform Price List & Discount Info ’24

New Model Hurlford Primary Parents Draft Letter (5)

Our P7 pupils participated in a workshop during Sustainability Week and Andy from Koolschools presented at this.  The pupils found him very interesting and wanted to learn more so they invited him to the school.

Andy was delighted with this invitation and visited the school in March and presented at the assembly.  Part of this presentation was ethically made school uniform.

The Fairtrade Committee are pleased to announce that we have “joined forces” with Koolschools to provide school uniforms made with ethically made cotton which will enhance our Fairtrade Status and help the workers in India.

Please click on the links above for further information, order forms and price lists.

P7 Supporting the Transition to Loudoun Academy

For Parents/Carers of P7 pupils:

I am writing to you at this important time in your young person’s education to explain Loudoun Academy’s Primary 7 transition arrangements in the Summer Term.

The next stage of our transition involves P7 pupils from all schools visiting Loudoun Academy for our three-day visit on Tuesday 4th, Wednesday 5th and Thursday 6th of June 2024. This visit is an excellent opportunity for P7s to meet their new S1 classmates, their teachers and follow their S1 timetables for three days.

Pupils will transported to and from Loudoun Academy by primary school staff, and should present in their primary uniform. There will be no Dining Hall service at break and pupils should bring a snack for their interval. At lunchtime, pupils are welcome to bring a packed lunch or they can enjoy free school meals each day from our first floor Dinner Hall. The School Menu for the transition days will be shared in advance with primary schools.

S1 class lists will be issued via P7 teachers in the week before the 3 day visit. In creating classes, we have considered detailed information from each primary, information from Transition 2 meetings and Additional Support Needs, current friendship groups and siblings who are at Loudoun to ensure all young people are happy, comfortable and placed with someone they know from P7.

I would ask parents and carers to appreciate that an important part of starting S1 is making new friends and to only contact the school if there is an urgent issue with class placement. We look forward to welcoming your young people to our school in June and to giving them the best possible start to S1. Please do not hesitate to get in touch with me if you require any information or have any concerns about transition.

We would like to formally invite you to our P7 Helping Your Child evening which will take place on Wednesday 22 May 2024 between 4:30pm and 6:30pm. This input is a direct result of consultations with parents and provides an opportunity for you to experience the types of learning that will be undertaken by your young person when they move to Loudoun Academy in August.

If you would like to attend the event, please complete the form which can be accessed on our app and glow for link to book place.  You will be able to book a place at this event until 12noon on the day of the event.

Please be aware that refreshments will be available and that our Parent Council will also have a fundraising stall at this event.

We look forward to welcoming you to our school and these events.
