Neve came 1st in the flat race for the girls and Keira came 1st in the second race.
In 2nd place for the girls were Kammy and Millie.
In 3rd place for the girls were Lailah and Paige.
Adam S came 1st in the flat race for the boys. Aiden won for the second flat race for the boys.
In 2nd place for the boys were RJ and Layton.
In the skip and beanbag race, our 1st place winners were William, Adam B, Keira and Chloe.
Overall, we all had great fun but Portland was the winning house team.

In other news, we were finishing our topic on Vikings by learning about the Gods and Goddesses. In maths, we have been learning about fractions. We played some good games on Topmarks. At assembly RJ got star worker for great knowledge and questions at the pharmacy trip.

This week in P6 we have been very active preparing for Sports Day 2019.We did the sack race which was very hard! The techniques we learned was The Bunny Hop and Jogging . Most of us preferred the bunny hop because we could go a further distance. On Friday we had the a talk on puberty and how our bodies change from child to adult. It was very interesting to learn. Most of us thought that it was important to learn so we know in later life.

For our homework, we had to create a poster all about school and what we learned in Primary One. We can now write words using the alphabet and complete calculations using numbers. We have made lots of progress this year and completed lots of fun activities. Some of our favourite activities and fun things we have done this year include gymnastics, peer massage and outdoor learning.

On Thursday, Speech and Language came into our class to deliver Buddy training to all P6s. We learned how to to communicate with wee ones by using the OWL technique (observe, wait, listen) and the type of words and phrases we should use. We enjoyed playing the warm up games and learning new skills.
As part of our Europe topic, we have been using Microsoft Publisher to create a tourist information leaflet on a European city, landmark or tourist attraction. We learned how to access and retrieve information and how to create and modify text and images.

We had a very busy day out: swimming at Loudoun Academy, lunch in Galston and a countryside walk back to Hurlford along the Chris Hoy cycle path.
We all loved using flippers in the swimming pool! They made us swim faster and felt funny to walk in. Some of us ventured up to the deep end for the first time. It was also fun diving in and trying the reach the bottom of the pool.
After swimming we walked to Aroma Coffee Shop in Galston and had a delicious lunch. The wrap pizzas were a big hit! Everything looked and tasted great; we loved watching the food being prepared. We were even shown how to operate the till and allowed to type in the orders. Thank you to Aroma Coffee Shop for showing us some super work place skills.
After lunch, we headed over to Candy Coated Café for a wee ice-cream treat. There were so many flavours to choose from: irn bru, strawberry cheesecake, bubblegum, chocolate… We all enjoyed the flavours we chose!
Fueled up, we headed for the cycle path and made our way back to Hurlford. With the sun out, it was a lovely walk and we had fun spotting all the different nature that was around; we saw butterflies, ladybirds, birds, cows and lots of different plants. We all did really well on the walk as it was quite a long way!
