P7J

Last week we were very busy in P7J !

In maths, we have been learning about multiple numbers, factors and prime numbers.

We have been enjoying each others talks about WWII which we researched and prepared as homework.  Neve, Bethany E, and Jasmine told us about woman’s efforts in WWII . Marcus shared information about the capture of Rudolph Hess and quite a few researched what it would be like at Christmas.  We found out that many people would have given home made gifts and rationing meant Christmas dinner would have been to a challenge due to food shortages.

The Scottish SPCA also visited and we built robot rabbits. We had to think about their needs and used ipads to code actions and responses for our robot rabbits.  We thought it was fun!

P7F Structured Activities

In P7 F we have had different activities happening on a Wednesday afternoon.  It has been keeping us very busy.  We have some photographs to show our work. We have made gas masks linking to our WW2 topic.  We have been investigating primary, secondary and tertiary colours by mixing paint.  We have been trying out different Microsoft Office applications like Sway and Publisher.  We have also have a mum come in and help us to paint stones to use outside in our Outdoor Learning classes.  We have painted stones with letters and pictures on them with acrylic paint.  These stones are for making scavenger hunts to help with Literacy tasks with our P1 buddies.

P7 Transition Day 1 at Loudoun Academy

Primary 7s at Hurlford Primary attended their first Transition day to Loudoun Academy.  They were all very quiet and subdued for most of the day.  They were all split into 6 groups and attended 3 different classes.  They attended classes on: anti-bullying, Respect Me by the Campus Cop, and a ‘Welcome to Loudoun Academy’ by Mr Hendry highlighting the key values of the school and the restorative approach they take.

Pupils were very excited for lunch time and to have play time in the Astroturf area.

Ben enjoyed seeing his friends from other schools that he attends football with.

Willow liked the food and liked trying different juice.

Adelle felt she made friends with people from other schools and was really happy about that.

Lee thought the best bit was seeing his big brother.

Kieran really liked getting to see more of the school again and it reminded him of when Hurlford was there as a school.

Hurlford can’t wait for Transition Day 2!!!
