Happy October! We’re almost at the end of term one already and it seems to have flown in.
This week P4 have been continuing their number work and are becoming more confident when faced with place value tasks. Keep up the good work guys!
We have also been focusing literacy a lot this week. We have been working hard on our spelling, reading and grammar and are still focusing on capital letters and full stops.
In other areas of the curriculum, we have been learning about Christian weddings, doing various artwork and learning about animal adaptations.
Your home challenge this week is to choose one of the following animals and use the writing frame to help you write about the adaptations! You can use the following website to research animals:

Hello P6W,
What a quick week this has been. Time flies when you’re having fun!!! Speaking of time, the class has been learning about the 24 hour clock. Some of us found it quite tricky to convert 12 hour and 24 hour times but we stuck at it and are getting the hang of it now. We had to remember to have a growth mindset and not give up!
In Literacy we were looking at the features of adventure stories and had a go at writing our own. Our spelling focus this week was making plural nouns by adding s or es and in our science topic we have been investigating the effects of friction.
HOME CHALLENGE: Have a look around your house and garden and find 3 examples of surfaces that would produce LOW friction and 3 surfaces that would produce HIGH friction. You could test out your findings with a toy vehicle. If possible make a list or draw and label what you find and send a photo to my email address. Good luck!
Enjoy your weekend,
Mrs W

Hi P2B,
We have had another fantastic week. We have been working hard on our place value and addition and revising hibernation and looking at what animals hibernate. Next week we will be looking at extreme weather and we will be doing some science experiments. If possible and if you have any, could you please bring in a large water bottle (1 or 2 litres). This would be a big help thank you.
This week we have been revising “th” phoneme and some common words can you practice these at home using the following activities.
RED group – maths three think thank this that then
BLUE group – moth bath thin with it in I

Home learning task – Our topic is weather and we are going to look at waterproof materials. Find a range of materials at home and test if they are waterproof.
Have a great day and I will post some of our season tree artwork tomorrow as a few are still to finish,
Miss Baillie 🙂

We have made it to the end of yet another busy week in P6. Well done to everyone who achieved an award this week and to everyone who performed their speech for the vice captain role.
This week in maths we have been looking at perimeter and had the opportunity to measure the perimeter of objects in the class and outdoors. In literacy we have been writing more interesting stories and have been learning about collective nouns. We also started our new topic Forces and Friction and have enjoyed the related activities this week.
HOME CHALLENGE 14/09/20
As part of our new topic we were investigating the forces push and pull around the classroom. Can you look for examples of a push and a pull around your house that you can share with the class next week?
Also, continue to practice this weeks spelling words:
above
across
both
brought
called
change
different
does
enough
evening
Have a lovely, well deserved weekend.

Happy Friday everyone!
We’ve had a fantastic week in school. Here are some things we have been learning about:
For your home learning tasks this week, try to practice your place value by going onto Education City and trying your place value challenge again. The pupils have already had a go at this in class and should know how to find this task. Once logged in, go to the “classwork” section and look for the icon that says “Place Value Challenge.”
Another thing we have been working on is our spelling of common words. Here’s a list of the ones we have covered so far:
day, I, had, mum, children, made, of, my, one, him, came, called, she, have, big, oh, here, is, went, when
Try an at home spelling test this week to check if there are any we need to practice.
Have a lovely weekend!

Hello everyone!
This week in primary one, we have been looking at pattern and creating our own using shape, cubes and toys. Try to spot some patterns in the community, on clothing, on tv or in games (hint: animals have patterns).
We have been working on the sound ‘i’ and have been continuing learning to read some common words. For this week’s task you should share a story and try to spot ‘a’ ‘at’ or ‘the’ in it. If you want to make it a challenge, you could count how many times you see each word.
Have a lovely week and enjoy the holiday when it comes!

Happy Monday P5,
Over the last few days we have been practising our 4x and 8x tables and our knowledge of them is growing every day which is magnificent.
We have also been talking about our emotions and recognising how people show or demonstrate their emotions.
Our new topic is Light and Sound. We attempted an experiment outdoors to measure how far away from our classmates we were when we could hear them whisper, talk normally and shout. There were a lot of other noises outside too, such as the sound of traffic, so we are going to try the experiment again on another dry day.
As you know, week beginning 14th September, is a really short week, so is week beginning 21st September. So, your Homework Activities in this week’s Blog are challenges for both of those weeks.
HOME NUMERACY CHALLENGE
Can you learn the 3x Table?
Here are the 3x Table facts, with 2 challenging facts to learn which are at the end:
0 x 3 = 0
1 x 3 = 3
2 x 3 = 6
3 x 3 = 9
4 x 3 = 12
5 x 3 = 15
6 x 3 = 18
7 x 3 = 21
8 x 3 = 24
9 x 3 = 27
10 x 3 = 30
11 x 3 = 33
12 x 3 = 36
Good Luck!
HOME SPELLING CHALLENGE
Over the last few weeks I have noticed that there are some words which many of us are finding a wee bit tricky, so I thought that, over the next couple of weeks, we could practise spelling them:
1. said
2. were
3. where
4. when
5. because
6. called
7. some
8. going
9. there
10. come
Firstly, practise reading the words aloud. Then, try to practise how to spell these words by playing some of the games which we play in class. You will soon be able to use these words in your writing when you feel happy with your super duper spelling skills.
Have fun,
from,
Miss Steedman

This week has been very busy and I’m sure we’re looking forward to a restful weekend.
Well done to those pupils who got their name on our Recognition Board everyday. Superb! – keep it up!
We have started our Science topic on Forces and Friction and have been investigating the forces we use in our everyday lives. In Numeracy and Maths we have been exploring different ways to multiply 2 digits by 1 digit as well as revising digital and analogue time. The focus in Literacy has been looking at the features of narrative text to help us plan, structure and write interesting stories. We have continued to look at how to develop a Growth Mindset and we used visualisation to illustrate what this means.
Home Challenge:
Enjoy your weekend.
