A very busy, fun and eventful day for P6P today for children in need. We loved making Pudsey pictures, doing code breaking and completing “Children in Need” word searches.

Happy Monday everyone!
I hope that you have enjoyed a lovely weekend and are well rested for the week ahead.
On Friday, we dressed down for Pudsey and raised a lot of money for Children In Need which was brilliant.  We also enjoyed different activities during the day.

This week in P5, we will be learning about the final representation of the phoneme ee: ea.  You will find all of this week’s words in the document above. There will also be some division activities on Education City for you to complete starting from today (16.11.2020), which you may find tricky at first, but, with more practise, you will soon be experts.

Well done to P7, who have given thoughtful, respectful and mature responses to all the activities we have undertaken this week to commemorate Remembrance Day on the 11th November.
Here is a small sample of some of their super work…
Jack, “On 11.11.20. Primary 7 wrote acrostic poems for Remembrance Day, some of the words we used were world war, great war, soldiers etc. Once we wrote them in our daily writing jotters we typed them up on the laptop and sent them to Mrs Johnstone and she helped us make some alterations if needed.”

John, “It was Remembrance Day and we decided to do artwork we designed medals on a bit of paper and then we made them out of plasticine, and they turned out so cool, but some people didn’t do that they done painting. They painted a piece of paper grey and the cut-out silhouette’s and stuck them down and use darker Gray paint to make nice clouds and then use green paint to make stems for poppies and we had the choice to cut out a poppy or to make one out of tissue paper and then stuck them down. they all turned out so good.”

Brooke, “Last week in Primary 7 we made a display for our window in the classroom, This is what we did – we drew poppies , then cut them out from the inside then we put tissue paper and cellophane and glued  it on the back  then stuck them to the window. We also made letters saying LEST WE FORGET the same way we made the poppies – we did one letter each and the others done the poppies, we done it in houses. It looked really cool from the outside.”
Unfortunately, I don’t have a photograph of the beautiful window display that was created with Miss Mair but I hope lots of you have been able to appreciate it when passing by.

Hello P6!
It’s Friday again, what a quick week! We’re rounding off our busy week with some Children In Need activities in the classroom. I know lots of pupils have decided to wear pyjamas to school to help raise money for this cause – your £1 donations will be greatly appreciated.
This week in maths, we have been learning how to calculate the perimeter of regular and irregular shapes. We enjoyed using measuring tapes and rulers to find the perimeters of surfaces in the classroom. Next week we will be taking our learning outdoors and finding perimeters in the playground. Our spelling focus this week is words with the prefixes tele, trans, kilo and fore.

Another busy week last week in P3 and we were learning about Remembrance Day. We did art together to make big poppies and poppy wreaths for our classroom windows.
We were also learning addition strategies in maths. We looked at the counting on strategy and also bridging. Ask us to teach you – it’s one of the best ways of ensuring that we have managed the strategy.

And last but not least – there were absolutely fabulous posters and models created for our water cycle task. Great job everyone, and the explanations about evaporation, condensation and precipitation were excellent. Super job P3. Everyone was very impressed.

Hello Primary 2B,
Hope we all enjoyed our weekend and are all set for the new week. This week we will be starting our new topic – food and farming. Ask your family what they know about farming. They might even know someone who is a farmer. This week we will be exploring different technology that farmers use such as, combine harvesters. We are focusing on our addition strategies as well this week and last week we were counting 10 from any number and with a bit more practice we will be super at this.
I made a mistake on the last blog post about the new days for reading books. Very sorry! Biff will get new reading books on Monday and Thursday. Kipper and Floppy will both get new reading books on Tuesday and Friday. Remember to practice the books at home and always put them back in your bag as we use them every day. Ask your child to retell the story and quiz them to find certain words within the book for an extra challenge.
We have been looking at the “ee” phoneme this week. A bit of a nicer phoneme than last week as we have lots of words with “ee.” Here are this weeks words for the groups and common words that need to be practised.
Red group – green three sleep sheep queen
one first little
Green group – feel tree need deep
one first little me
Blue group – pin pat pan cap nap
go got get
Home learning task – last week we took pictures of objects in the classroom and learned that the objects are called common nouns. Go on a noun hunt. You can use a camera or your own eyes. Try and find 10 nouns. REMEMBER if you can photograph something it is probably a noun.
Could I also ask for a favour? If you can spare them, could you possibly send in the cardboard part of your kitchen roll and toilet roll when they are done with them over the next few weeks. Only if you have them to spare and are not needing them for something yourself. Please don’t buy extra, just if you can spare it. We will be using them to make adding machines and will need some in December for Christmas crafts. Thanks very much in advance.

Welcome back to a new week!
This week we will be exploring negative numbers; learning how to manage our email inboxes and thinking about Remembrance Day through a variety of activities.
Today we were all able to log-on to our Nessy accounts and start exploring the activities available to help develop our spelling and reading skills.
Rugby training also got off to a flying start with lots of great passing and catching being demonstrated.

Good morning!
If you are looking for a fun way to help your child at home with maths, the YouTube channel “Numberock” is a fantastic resource.
The channel focuses on maths songs which are fun and engaging and more suitable for P4-7. They cover a range of maths topics from times tables to measure. To find it, just go onto youtube and type in “Numberock” and the channel should come up.
From there, if you go onto the playlists tab, you will be able to scroll through and find hundreds of resources! One of my favourite topics they cover is times tables. They do songs based on skip counting (eg 4 times table = 4, 8, 12, 16 etc) and the songs are in a rap style.
