P7J Week Beginning 24th January

This week we have had a wide range of learning experiences taking place, read on to find out what we have been up to in P7J…

The week started off with us taking our interdisciplinary work outdoors.  We were learning about the Battle of Britain and had to use reading strategies, teamwork and problem solving skills in a crossword scavenger hunt.

Also relating to our World War 2 topic, and because it is Holocaust Memorial Day on January 27th, we found out about Anne Frank who was a Jewish teenager who lived in Amsterdam during the war.  We imagined what it would have been like to have to go into hiding and wrote our own diary entries.

We also used our ICT skills to create word cloud art images to show words which symbolise the type of world we would like to live in.

Our maths work has been focussed on using tables to help identify linear number patterns.  Then we had to explain the rule using a formula, it was quite challenging but everyone made a great effort.

Everyone has made a good start to learning ‘To a Mouse’ by Robert Burns.  If you would like to enter the Scots Verse competition you need to be able to recite verses 1,2, 4, 7 and 8 by the end of next week.  Good Luck!

Have a lovely Friday and great weekend when it arrives.

Mrs J
