P6: week beginning 5th June 2023

What a busy week. Here’s a round-up of what Primary 6 have been doing.

Literacy: We took our learning outdoors on Tuesday during our French lesson to play colours bingo. We had to find, draw and label an object in the playground for each colour in French. The photos above show us busy at work. Most of us got a full house within 7 minutes ! For Spelling , we focused on the prefix in and learned how it changes the root word to the opposite. For writing this week, we revised how to structure paragraphs and when to take a new paragraph in our extended writing. Our reading was using Giglets to read a non-fiction text and use different strategies to answer questions. We have also been preparing and delivering our solo talks to the class. We have enjoyed listening to our peers talks on a wide range of subjects and giving constructive feedback. Everyone has done really well.

In Numeracy, we finished our unit on patterns and sequences then moved on to money. We revised the different coin and note denominations, then used mental and written strategies to add and subtract amounts. In maths with Miss Gibson, we explored volume and capacity.

This week we rounded off our space topic by revising the key learning and teaching points. Then we completed an end of topic assessment. Our focus for the next two weeks is personal projects which we will be starting today.

Yesterday for outdoor PE , we had a fab game of rounders. Everyone was very enthusiastic and gave it their all.

Here’s hoping for a sunny weekend!
